Basically Oedipus, but it's your sister and not your mom.
@lzrshark6173 жыл бұрын
@@redeye4516 I always felt like Oedipus would be _hella_ pissed if he learned that that was named after him. I mean, in the actual story, the dude frickin gouged out his own eyes after he learned he'd unknowingly slept with his mom. Naming it 'Oedipus Complex' makes it sound like the dude actually knew what he was doing and did it anyways. That'd be like accidentally shooting your friend in like a hunting accident or something, being devastated about it, and then a bunch of people in the future name a complex about 'wanting to kill your friend and make it look like an accident' after you, and now everyone thinks you shot your friend on purpose
@redeye45163 жыл бұрын
+LzrShark Yep, classic case of people not understanding the story at all. Freud was most likely trying to cover up his own kinks he was ashamed of if you ask me. I was actually referring to the original message here, because the husband really just freaks out when he learns what he did, and seems to die twice in a row, resetting a cycle in one of the shortest amounts of time. In-line with Oedipus, who decided he'd seen enough and that it was time to leave. There's also the patricide in common, he kills his father and marries his sister. Oedipus unknowingly kills his father and marries his mother. Back to people not understanding things and naming complexes, there's the Napoleon Complex, often used to describe short men compensating for their height with being overly masculine. However, Napolean was only 5'2" in French units, which were different from modern units. In today's measurements, he was about 5'7" or 5'8", which was slightly tall for the time. Hell, the guy was a smidge taller than me. The only reason he's thought to be short is because the British either didn't get the memo that their measuring systems were different or didn't care and just wanted propaganda laughing at Napoleon for the crime of being short and male. Many such examples of human ignorance and prejudice simply muddying the waters.

I think the looping part of the game is a dream brought on by the protagonist's hypnosis, where he imagines how the future will be if he actually were to be with her; a very bad future. He imagines himself as the monster he would be; having killed his father and lied to his (now pregnant) wife for almost a decade. The "cop" is a characterization of his fear and guilt. "Cop" has the face and voice of his father, and the goal of taking away everything he shouldn't have in the first place to save his daughter, just like the protagonist's actual dad. Not to mention his strength and quickness to abuse it to further his goals. Anyways, moral of the story: just because you think you really want something, that doesn't mean it's what's best for you, or anyone else.

Yeah, one of those stories where you cant easily predict the ending. The time loop was a mindfuck, and the real ending was surprisingly satisfying than what I initally thought
@thewolfstu3 жыл бұрын
44:25 The Time Loop wasn't real, it was a hypnosis-induced lucid dream, forcing him to repeat the suffering over and over until he finally could break out of the loop by loosing those feelings of love, forever changing himself mentally for a better future for him, his step-sister, and his father. Quite a mind melting Psych horror, ngl. I bloody loved it. It's rather artistic and beautiful in a stomach turning, mind breaking, horrific way. Tbh, These time-loop ideas can really be put to good use when pondering life and honestly, even though they are so common now and days in entertainment, when done right they can be breathtaking.

Yeah, he gets it in the video. The canonically ending the loop ending is the one where the father hypnotizes you to forget about her. I think that's the only ending that brings you to the credits instead of back into the loop (even when you tell him that you'll live without her you're still at the same time in the flat and can go back to him by looking at the watch).

I love that based off this edit, I presume RT never killed his wife for anything... as opposed to Robbaz who immediately looked in the fridge for a beer, didn't see one, got pulled away from the fridge for the wife's kiss, posited the idea of making love to her against the fridge, stabbed his wife, and then ate the pudding over her body. The main character slaughtered his wife before the guy even knew he was in the time loop. I was laughing so hard my house was shaking. If anyone wants to watch there's an archived stream here on KZbin, should be easy enough to find.
