The reason I wear baggy pants is because it is comfortable and if I have to pull my pants up every time its because I try not to tighten my belt , I want maximum comfort , I wear baggy loose fit jeans because it is comfortable and I'm too lazy to workout , its not the attention or anything , tight fit jeans and slim fit doesn't work for me , its too tight , I like a baggy style , especially when I'm sitting down , I think its a better look , if your skinny I suppose skinny jeans look better but I think the baggy jeans are more comfortable for men

dude I would never tuck in my shirt into my pants unless I'm wearing a tuxedo , I always wear everything tucked out , its a hell of a lot more comfortable , tucking stuff in is too formal , the only time I would tuck in my shirt is if I'm wearing a suit , I prefer casual , loose fit Japanese jeans and a tucked out t-shirt or a tucked out Guayabera shirt , I'm not big on formal wear , the only shoes I ever wear are flip-flops or sliders or sandals

One of the weirdest things I started thinking about as I grew up was this: is it self expression to “be myself” by just being who I am without concern? Or is it self expression to consciously choose the clothes that express the *idea* of who I am as it will be perceived by others? What I mean is that clothes convey a message like a language to others, and sometimes the way you feel about your clothes isn’t the same as the message they send.

I'll say this, this guy gives great advice, but if he tells you your Hawaiian shirt sucks but you enjoy it, enjoy it. You don't have to belong to a system, the people on top or people who want to get to the top will try to fit in to what society's view of a man is, but the guy on top of the top, they don't care about impressing because they're already in charge. Zuckerberg just wears a grey hoodie, Johnny Depp just puts on random pieces of clothing without any rhyme.
@Antzus81
@Antzus81 Жыл бұрын
@@Matt-pb7ds I'd add, dig a little deeper as to WHY you love your Hawaiian shirt so much. Are you Hawaiian and love your heritage? Are you inspired by some TV character? Do you want to project a sunny disposition? Know your why, know what drove you to that decision, and then you'll know whether to stick with it or switch style.

Oh, man! I was the only male teacher in my public school for 30 years dressing up a bit! I made it a statement to dress up, and worse 😂, carry a book around with me. When I first decided to use the three suit coats hanging in my closet, I was sure the rougher students would ridicule me to no end. I was wrong! All the next years, not a peep from any students. However! From time to time, I got snide remarks from fellow teachers and administrators about it! Parents would mistaken me for the Principal! Even my wife doesn't like I rid myself of blue jeans! Says I "look like a clown" going to church in suit coat (not suit) with tie! Off with the tie only partly placated her! Can you imagine? Excuse me, but that is NOT overdressing. We have become so immature in this country that it is sometimes daring to dress up, even a little. I refuuuuse to stop!

I work in an office. During autumn or spring when it's not too hot nor too cold I like wearing shirts. Nothing fancy, I dress them down with jeans. Still, I get comments, positive as they are, that I overdress. Weird thing is the manager has banned shorts so there is a rule to not be too casual but they still find it weird if I am a bit less casual.

I love this channel. I've always tried to be different from everyone else. Different style, different music, different ideals. Everyone has become a copy of a copy of a copy. @danielt.3152

Look at it another way. I see people that all got tattoos trying to be “different “. Now everyone has tattoos, go figure. Next let’s look at “comfort” , I see people with tattoos seem to feel obligated to show off their tattoos, so for example it’s very cold out, there is snow on the ground and yet some man or woman is wearing shorts, or a t-shirt to expose skin even when the weather temperature is against them being comfortable. So yeah sure you can look cool while you freeze and try some Zen method to ignore the uncomfortable cold. Dwell on that, but thanks I won’t succumb to fashion over my comfort or follow a trend just to fit in. My rebellion is NOT having a tattoos.

A lot of what you're saying holds true. I personally believe that fashion decisions are also based on the "age" of the person, their "maturity " level, or even "style, taste". An example of which, Iam in my 40`s, any T shirt that has logos, designs, or pictures, I prefer them on the back of the shirt. Also depending on the nature , content of the graphics, I restrict myself where I wear them. Grown man, not a High Schooler, or College Frat boy. As for "sagging ", I wouldn't let my son out of the house looking like that. Considering the "background " from where this trend actually got its start.

Laundry, you showed a front load washer and that's the best but I suggest everyone throw in a color catcher with each load. You did not show a dryer, but dryers have killed more clothing than a washer ever did! I prefer to dry in the lowest temperature setting and put the time as high as it can be. I separate clothing into blue shades and Brown shades and black gray shades. I loved this video of yours! I just wanted to add some information

The sagging jeans are a nod to prison style. The idea, among guys who see prison as aspirational, is to walk around with your pants falling off because when you're locked up the guards take away your belt. Somehow this turned into a sartorial style, signaling that the wearer is too dangerous to mess with.

That is how media wants it to be, that is how they get views and ratings. It is also how they get people to watch and follow them. The whole thing should just be carted away to rot and be replaced with something less manipulable and with zero corporate money, as a start. I can't even talk partisan politics because neither party is any good. I'll talk individual issues if I do end up having to talk about it, and I am decently happy to disagree on some of them, too.

I work in an office setting now, but the last 17 years or so I’ve been a Machinist so dressing nice wasn’t really necessary. I pull my pants up every time I stand, they don’t stay up with a belt maybe I need to give the suspenders a try. I’ve never found pants that fit perfect, maybe I should give a try to the tailored pants company.

A few points: Another reason to wear braces is if you have a v shape with little or no hips. Belts would just pull my trousers down. I recently bought a pair of western work boots with square toes. I wasn’t happy about it, but I needed something to wear while working outside. Square toes have become popular because certain rodeo performers have started wearing them in competition. Still look like hell, but the ones I bought are rugged enough to do hard work. I went to a funeral yesterday and was very frustrated at how many men had buttoned their bottom buttons. In one case it was the whole family. Finally, maybe it is time to do another video on laundry and fabric care.

Get a copy of Dress for Success, John T. MOLLOY. He gives a lot of good advice on how to dress professionally, not necessarily stylishly or trendy, but professionally. Since I retired as a prosecutor, I live in sweats, shorts. Wife beaters (tank top, sleeveless t shirts with my tats hanging out.) But when I was working, or especially when I went to jury trial, I dressed like a poster boy for Brooks Brothers. Suspenders (called braces) with my power suit. Real dress braces with buttons and not snaps. Suspenders buttons sewn into my suit slacks. I would spend about $150 extra on every suit I bought just for alterations to ensure it looks like I was born in the suit. Shirt starched and pressed, tie steam pressed so i can make a perfect dimple. I want to look like Gordon Gecko in Wall Street. Cuz I was DA Man. The prosecutor. And I want to be taken seriously. I used a high end fountain pen cuz it makes a dramatic flare everytime I unscrewed the cap to write a note. But you'll see. Once you outgrow the "let it all hang out" years, you'll see how it fits.

Really appreciate the philosophy you're emphasizing here and in an earlier video that on one hand you should take into account that others will judge you for what you wear, while on the other hand you should be careful with judging others for what they wear because that's a bad trait. Too many menswear channels/blogs are too judgmental.

Suspenders are great. Much more comfortable than a belt. Every time you get a suit, ask them to add suspender buttons. Get a few pairs of silk suspenders in nice patterns and muted colors. They make for a great accessory and a great look when you take your suit coat off. Women love to come up behind and snap the elastic band. Great opportunity for flirting, and you're already well-dressed to impress her!

The idea that looser fitting clothing is coming back in style is funny to me. I've started seeing Levis Silver Tab jeans in stores in recent years, and it takes me back to the '90s when basically every clothing item was fitted for someone with a build by Rob Liefeld (comic artist who drew wildly over-the-top body shapes). Some time back I found some clothes I had in high school, and they fit me horribly. Like with the pants, the waist was fine, but everything else was just far too roomy, all my pants had pleats to try and fit all that extra fabric in. Wonder if we'll see a return of JNCO.

Suspenders convert here. I had appendicitis surgery back in 2020 and tried suspenders/braces to avoid the pressure that a belt would cause to the operation site while I healed. Needless to say, I was hooked (or rather, buttoned, as I had several pairs of pants altered to have buttons - clip-on suspenders don't hold as well). Much more comfortable, you don't need to worry as much about your shirt coming untucked (plus it's easier to retuck too), and they even get compliments sometimes. Sure it takes a bit of confidence to pull off, but once you get more comfortable with wearing them, it gets much easier. More recently I started experimenting with casual waistcoats too - as much as I like sports coats, they're not practical most of the year here in Florida.

@@z3r3pmoto This comment proves you’ve never been in a Tecovas store, have no idea that Chisos is limited on their product offering, or that Alvie’s caters to a specific market. Not mocking any of those brands or others similar, I’m just mocking your obvious cognitive dissonance

Love your videos and they've been enlightening in terms of fashion since that's something I was never really in to (still very much a novice currently). I did have one question though, how do you look good when carrying a CCW? One of the options that I saw presented by Massad Ayoob was a shoulder holster, but that requires that I never take off my jacket at all until I'm back home or in a private setting with friends who know I'm carrying and won't freak out. A lot of times people say to wear baggier shirts and pants (like one waist size bigger, for example) to help with "printing." While I want to look great, some of the places I go aren't the... best places in town and do honestly feel safer carrying something.

I don't think it's really possible. Classic style tends to be based on close fit, and trying to conceal a holster under your shirt just doesn't accommodate that. If you don't mind having it stored in a bag separate from your person, then something like a leather satchel would probably be the most fashion-friendly option. Of course, that opens you to the possibility of not being with your bag when you need it and not being able to open that bag quickly enough in the case of an emergency.

I'd love to see an example how just how important fit is. An awesome video idea is going out and buying a really really cheap suit (like sub 300, sub 200) and taking it to a really good tailor to get it properly fitted. Then you show what the total price was for the suit, which would be the suit itself and the tailoring cost

Sir, you just set a lot of brothers up for failure in the laundry. When adding bleach, add it to the dispenser in the recommended amount, minus a quarter if your uncomfortable. However, if you add your bleach directly to the water, let the washer fill up and stir it to make sure of a good mix and then add your clothes. You should have the opportunity to learn from my mistakes.

6:31 Maybe it's because I'm using sensitive / no dyes / no perfumes detergent but I have horror stories I can tell you where I wash entire loads of clothes and they come out stinking because I used "what the bottle said." So now when I do full loads I use an entire cup of detergent (like the WHOLE cup, not the bars on the side).. Everything comes out clean.

Suspenders are the best clothing item I've ever used. I'm heavier and wore belts since I was a kid. It was done without a thought. No pair of pants could possibly stay where it should stay. Nothing ever fit. Now, with suspenders, there is no issue at all. It isn't a thing to think about. My wife doesn't love them honestly so sometimes I just wear them under my shirt, all good. I'm on a weight loss mission and there will be a day where I don't need suspenders but I am positive they will be part of my fashion anyway. I'm kinda looking forward to getting some outlandish crazy suspenders when I'm out having fun.

If you spend any time in the saddle, you should have a few pair of dungarees that are a couple inches past your regular inseam; the reason being that they'e going to ride up (pun intended) on your legs, and your boots could get damaged in the bush. Dungarees are cheaper to replace than boots.

Suspenders are great and all, but I always feel like I'm a german boy from my old village... well from pre ww2... belts are a bit icky in the summer as leather often stains, so either getting a canvas belt and a khaki dress uniform and turn it into civvie clothes or such.

What is near-criminal are menswear shops who let customers walk out of the store with pant hems or jacket sleeves that haven't been properly measured or adjusted (i.e. straight off the rack).

It's becoming more difficult today, as many retailers didn't bring back their tailors after the Covid layoffs. One result was that a lot of places stopped carrying suits in their retail stores and switched to suit separates, which means pre-hemmed trousers that may not be an exact match for the jacket. The closest thing to an advantage is that not everyone is a standard six-inch drop, so the trousers in separates should be available with a properly sized waist without tailoring. Useful if you happen to wear a 44L jacket, but also have a 36" or even a 42" waist. The thing that annoys me the most about separates, though, is that all parts of a suit will come from the same piece of cloth, while with separates it's likely the jacket and trousers will come from the same mill run, but not the same bolt, so there can be minor variances between them.
@carlitobrigante330
@carlitobrigante330 Жыл бұрын
@@TheJTMcDaniel Granted, yes. Certain stores like Banana Republic (in Canada) sell suit separates and sure as hell do not have a tailor in-house. My beef is more so with bona fide menswear shops that DO have at least one tailor on staff, and still let some customers walk out of the store without even offering to have the jacket sleeves shortened or the the jacket nipped at the waist - as almost every off-the-rack suit will require.

As someone who has got duck feet I want to clarify that I never have and never will buy or wear square toe shoes. But deep inside I know that I would be more comfortable in them vs. the toothpicks that these types of shoes usually are :-) Unfortunately I have not yet come across a brand that makes business leather shoes with a wider profile AND good quality.
