3:13 No one was "surprised" that the gauges were different - the gauge difference is why the station was built - it was a interchange point for trains of different gauges. It became abandoned after Spain switched to standard gauge.

Actually, in the Republic of California, flat car rail cars are currently used as vehicle bridges to cross streams on private property. There is at least one in Solano County, near San Francisco or Sacramento that I personally drove a loaded up Ford Expedition Fire Department Staff vehicle across, followed by 2 Type 3 Fire Engines. While the approach is too tight for a pavement princess fire engine, it did pass scrutiny of the Building Department and the Fire District.
