My in laws have had “grandpa’s old car” in their yard unused for 30 years except for the grandkids playing in it. It’s a 1955 Pontiac Star Chieftain, 50K original miles. Literally his grandma drove it to church and the grocery store once a week. My husband had it towed here at the beginning of the summer, he has redone the seats (nothing but old springs were left) and most of the interior was in amazing shape and only needed to be cleaned. Not a dent in the body, tiny bits of surface rust in a few spots -we polished all that amazing chrome, and he has gone through every bit of the engine. He took it for a ride a few weeks ago but still needs to do the brakes ❤️ he keeps his Halloween skeleton in it, her name is Tina. She has a skull in her hands named Ike...

Right on what a cool score, awesome that you guys are purring the old chief back on the road. If ya have the budget for maybe look into at least front disk brake conversion or swap some off a later model car. Those old heavy cars had sketchy drums back in their hay day and add 60 years their even more sketchy. Does it have the light up indian head hood ornament

For sure!! Despite what your man said, there doesn't appear to be any rust so they're probably made of aluminium. They could easily be fitted with any suitable power plant, and any shafts or drivetrain components could be machined and you're nearly there. That said, I'll just sell some stuff for cash to repair the thing and redo the fitout. 😲 Dang... It looks like I'll need to sell 5 of my Chirons and 3 of my Neveras to get started on it... ✌😎

17:41 Not sure why the “Herkimer” can’t be used in other movies just because it’s (heavily customized) - anyone who remembers the movie Space Hunter would remember a vehicle called the “Scrambler”, also a heavily customized vehicle. Still, a few years later the “Scrambler” was slightly modified and reused in an episode of Knight Rider. There is no reason why something similar couldn’t be done with the “Herkimer”.

The nice thing is that two countries succeeded to design and operate turbo-trains into inter-city service. Alsthom produced its own with SNECMA engines which were running at 180 km/h between Caen and Paris, Bordeaux and Paris; and last not least New York and Montreal under Amtrack livery. Ghey make such a nice deep jet like noise. I used the three of them myself. Then, a joint project between the Canadians and United Statians did their own entering service in 1968 between Toronto and Montreal capable to run as fast as 270 km/h but only used at 150 km/h as the tracks did not allow faster speeds. The AEC Turbo-train was the first train to enter service with passive tilting allowing the Canadians to take the lead in that technology as 12 years later they would replace them with another train also featuring tilting but now succeeding with the only valid active tilting. Thy used the PT6, a United Aircraft engine made in Montreal and the tilting coaches were made in MLW factories again in Montreal. They also had that driver's cockpit in such manner that they looked like taken from Avro Lancaster bombers.

Hey. I gonna tell you something. That day i have a trip with my dad. Then we found many burnt cars. And many broken cars when we're on our road. Then after having a fun trip, we found a LITERALLY burning cars in the truck we seen. Near the gas station! And i did record the video. If you wanna see the proof

The McBarge was the 500th McDonald’s restaurant in Canada, hence the Friendship 500 name, Friendship for it’s location amidst the World’s Fair and 500 for it’s franchise number.

So what's the average price for a 150 ft yacht these days? $40 million, maybe 50? Even at 25 million (in 2021 dollars) the original cost of that Mc Barge would be a bargain. It wouldn't surprise me at all if some millionaire somewhere has already had a Chick-fil-a, a Subway, or some other fastfood place built into their yacht 🤑

As an Aircraft enthusiast, I'd love to see one of the Victors revived and brought back to working condition. I think it's good to keep at least one working example of historical vehicles, even if it was a rich enthusiast who has the cash to do it, so long as they get the support to get the parts made to keep it in good, working condition.

The Victor is truly magnificent. Ekranoplans have been built by the dozen. There are a few more big boys - have a search for them. I used to travel on the hydrofoils from Sydney Harbour to Manley in 1977! They were amazing. There have been many gas turbine trains, but not many using pure jet power to propel. They usually generators fitted with a shaft and gearbox.

I’m not sure if they are exactly the same, but I rode on the Soviet river hydrofoil from Bratislava, Slovakia to Vienna in 2015. It was an amazing ride, and goes through a system of locks at one point. I don’t know if they still operate. It was also very cheap (I think less than $30), and took us from downtown to downtown. I got off and walked a couple of blocks to the subway in Vienna and then on to my hotel, bypassing a taxi. Highly recommended, even for just a fun ride.

I think the McBarge would make a sick houseboat. It'd take some cash and work, but it'd be pretty sweet. Throw some engines on the back and take it somewhere where storms aren't much of an issue, and bingo. Water residence!

There are definitely tons of reasons to keep the jets on the front of the train in my opinion. Reason #1: To prevent the front from lifting up when accelerating. Reason #2: A traditional train design pulls. (though modern diesel/electric trains can pull/push) Reason #3: It prevents the hot exhaust from getting too close to the next cart. Edit: Also you dont really want it on the sides because while tunnels might hinder it on the top, they would probably hinder it from the sides too, along with any other obstacles. Not to mention you'd probably scorch the side of the rear cars.
