I'm a 71 year old woman who lives in Wisconsin. When I was in my teens there was a man who lived in Racine Wisconsin that own one of those cars that can also be driven on the water. Every spring he would bring it down to Lake Michigan to drive around the harbor. I was lucky enough to have seen it twice. I have no idea who owned it or what ever happened to it.

When I was ten year's old, my father had owned a red 1965 Amphicar. He never told me that it actually floated and ran in the water. One day, my Dad took me out for a drive to the grocery store. Instead, he drove to a local boat landing on the Detroit River. As we were approaching the boating area, my father kept going towards the boat slip. I began to freak out and almost opened my door to bail out of the car. But my dad told me to hang on and enjoy the ride. Splash. We cruised around the Detroit River for about 1 hour. It was a cool sight to see the shoreline from the front seat of a car/boat. I was the envy of my neighborhood friend's, and occasionally my father took many of my school classmates with us for a dip in the river with that vehicle. Wish I still had it in the family. Saw one recently at a classic car show by Lake Michigan. The owner took it out on the water to demonstrate how it cruised in the lake.

Donald Malcolm Campbell, CBE (23 March 1921 - 4 January 1967) was a British speed record breaker who broke eight absolute world speed records on water and on land in the 1950s and 1960s. He remains the only person to set both world land and water speed records in the same year (1964). He died during a water speed record attempt at Coniston Water in the Lake District, England. The wreckage of Campbell's craft was recovered by the Bluebird Project between October 2000, when the first sections were raised, and May 2001, when Campbell's body was recovered. The largest section, comprising approximately two-thirds of the centre hull, was raised on 8 March 2001.

The Bluebird still holds the world land speed record for a car where the wheels are driven (let's all argue over whether this is the 'true' land speed record). After this all records are jet engines mounted on wheels. At the time, one of the significant problems to overcome was how to make the tires such that the centrigugal forces didn't shed them off the wheel disc. From memory I think they were made by Dunlop.

Been a Ferrari fan since I was a kid (Pagani has overtaken it now as my favourite car company) but I’ve never heard or seen the Ferrari 512 S Modulo in my life. I know it came out 11yrs before I was born but I still knew my classic Ferrari models and limited edition cars (or so I thought) so it’s nice to see something new and it definitely has that 1960/70’s futuristic style which you would see in old movie, model toy cars, comics and other books when they drew what they thought cars would look like in the new millennium (from the year 2000 onwards). Even in the 80’s they had wild ideas about cars in the 2000’s just look at Back To The Future 2 which was set in the year 2015 with flying cars and hover boards and that’s was released in 1989, so they thought in 26yrs into the future we’d have flying cars!

The car without visible wheels and 10 headlights... The wheels are hidden by the bodywork. Two faced truck : The same have been made with some Ford Model-T and several other cars. A few 100's have been made over the last century. I had the Hot Wheels replica of the Modulo. The Amphicar Model 770 was regarded as both a bad car and a bad boat. Dubious road handling and bad performances on land, and bad at navigating. Also, it tended to rust a lot. When I was a kid, I got to get in the Pink Panther Mobile. It was pretty cool.

The De Tomaso Mangusta is a sports car produced by Italian automobile manufacturer De Tomaso between 1967 and 1971. With a semi-wedge, or pre- full wedge design. /// The Ferrari 512S Modulo is a concept sports car designed by Paolo Martin of the Italian carrozzeria Pininfarina, unveiled at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show and is the wedgey-est. /// Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A. is a design and engineering company founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani. The 1970 Porsche Tapiro by Italdesign evolved into Porsche 914 or 916. /// (Added:) UNFORTUNATELY, mid-engines with high temperatures, high vapor concentrations, or engine fluids dripping on hot surfaces can ignite. That was the single Tapiro example's fate sometime later. Wreck preserved at a museum, with back half scorched. /// 1972 Maserati Boomerang by Italdesign based on Maserati Bora was another wedge design.

The pre war car with airplane engine certainly didn't have a jet engine. These were invented during the WW2, and before that, airplanes were not called jets. Also, the practise of putting aircraft engines into high performance cars was pretty common at the time. "It's not called a banana car for no reason." No shit Sherlock, it's called that because it looks like a fucking banana! Lastly, the air car couldn't fly for 70 hours straight. That's like 3 days, it's impossible. Maybe during multiple flights it overall did 70 hours of air time, but not during one flight. That would consume so much fuel, not even speaking of the pilot not being able to do that (he'd fall asleep, pee or shit himself, etc.). Not possible. Well, here I was, a car enthusiast and a design student, hoping to see some interesting concept and production cars to learn something for my future work, and almost all I got was a bunch of home made monsters, some of which were just straight up trying to look as fancy as possible, some of which were just copying movie cars or fruits or looked like straight out of Pimp My Ride. Great. In fact, that Ferrari was the only thing that was an actual serious concept that I didn't know about.
