'49? It looks more a '39? A 180? They kept this styling on the senior cars & bet the ranch on the Clipper cars. There are a lot of stories on how the 160/180 tooling was lost, but they didn't come back after the War, condemning Packard Motor to try & slug it out in the ultra competitive middle price field-Lincoln Cosmo, Olds, Buick DeSoto/Chrysler Hudson, Nash &c.

I went to look and the woman said her husband had gotten it running about 20 years before , drove it awhile got sick and died and it had been there since , I was really excited until we went to look at it and the body had been rusted through with pin holes. The six door packard converted bus, or one of them was used in Victoria Australia in the late 30’s by the Reg Ansett company, taking passengers from Maryborough to Ballarat to catch trains to Melbourne. With a big enough budget for proper maintenance , it would be great for weddings, funerals, parties, business events, tours, etc. , as long as the passengers were gentle enough to treat it with respect. Just a thought: At 2:21, the woman looks like Lauren Bacall, the driver although cannot be clearly distinguished may be Humphrey Bogart, wearing a skipper's ball cap with emblem, as he was known for sailing and having boats (i.e. the "Santana" which was his boat in real life that was used in the movie "To Have and have Not", co-staring his soon to be wide Lauren Bacall, but I digress). Finally, the little boy looks to be his son Stevie and IF one were to search Steve's earlier photos as a boy, this lad looks amazingly like him. Once again, just a thought.

I have noticed on several of your videos, you do not show the actual item you are talking about. Case in point for THIS particular video, the section about the Corvette showed several other cars - while saying "this" car such and such, or "this" car this and that - and it was clearly not even a Chevrolet, much less a Corvette. PLEASE show the pics of what you are actually talking about. That's the entire reason why these types of videos get watched in the first place.

The original cost of a vehicle doesn't determine whether a car survives; the very cheap to the very expensive all end up junked eventually. But people put away cars for various reasons, from sensible to crazy. Some literally store a newly-bought car just to keep it untouched; in other situations, the owner of a new car dies suddenly and the survivors keep it as a memorial. And even cars in excellent original or restored condition will sometimes be put away and then allowed to be destroyed by deterioration and neglect.
