I added a Bixpy drive to my Outback. Adapter fits perfectly and the battery fits edgewise in the left aft slot. Will go 3 mph at half speed with range of 20 miles. Add some easy peddling and go 4.5 to 5 mph. Full speed is about 5 mph with 10 to 12 mile range. I use it to go between fishing sites then use peddles.

I just put a deposit on a '22 Outback. Can't wait for it to arrive and will christening it in later April. Great video and fantastic tips on the accessory recommendations. Crate, bilge and PFDs are my initial must haves and will continually add accessories as I go along.

Have you seen the new Steady Stake? It is a pole that mounts on competitors pedal systems? Sells for $200. Well I gave up on golf and converted my golf ball retriever into one. It fits perfectly into the sail post hole. This hole is heavily reinforced. When standing and fishing it provides a way to maintain your balance and not be in your way.

I have a new Compass and the heavy duty Hobie cart. Is it worth modifying the cart like so many have done to have a bungee system that pulls it into place? Or is it more for the outback and pro anglers? Just wondering whether I should modify it.

JR: Modify away! That cart/bungee system works great on the Compass, and there is a method that doesn't even require you to buy an extra, dedicated bungee, but your gear in the tankwell needs to be out of it, or at least not tied to the tankwell bungee. You also need to modify your cart and add the Hobie Padeye part 71116001 to the top of the cart. This vid does a great job showing you how this system works: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqG3qKibgqmFhs0. This vid shows you how to install the padeye: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4W6ZHqvh5V7l9U. The specific padeye you need: www.google.com/search?q=hobie+padeye+71116001&rlz=1C1ZCEB_enUS838US864&oq=hobie+padeye+71116001&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i333l3.12368j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8. Rig it up!

My goodness, how heavy is the kayak with all that gear, and how prone is it to rollover ? I am just starting into serious kayak fishing, so loved the gear available that you showcased, but at 65 years old, I gotta think of stuff like weight & rollover potential...:-)

Very stable, Scott. You can add accessories as you go along and most of these a very lightweight.

Does the EVA kit come pre-cut for Hobie kayaks? Is the kit limited to only Hobie, or can it be cut for other kayak companies as well?
@mikecarney14493 жыл бұрын
Hobie's EVA kits are custom designed for specific Hobie models, both full hull or interior only kits. Other kayaks can be outfitted by Louisiana Custom Kayaks (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3Orq2yebbuno5I) or from SeaDeck -- seadeck.com.

I don’t even know how to buy those accessories. Is there a secret hobie web site?

You CANNOT buy the H rail for the back of the Hobie Outback. This is a sore spot with me. Do not false advertise. THEY ARE NOT IN PRODUCTION.

Kayaking offers a lot of versatility that boats don't have! I'll fish my yak for life! 🤙🏽

Lange...r -- it is a boat! Just a boat that can go places a conventional rig cannot! Plus the exercise. Plus the ease of trailer and launching. Plus the gas savings. Plus the insurance savings. Plus the intimacy of being so close to the water and nature. Plus the fun. Plus, plus, plus, plus. I see this lame reply on a lot of kayak outfitting videos across the KZbin sphere. You're missing the point Bro, which I suspect you fully know. I agree, Hobie accessories are not cheap, but they are generally bomb-proof, last forever and are supremely functional, making them a great long-term value. And, my last conventional boat did not come with every accessory I needed standard -- just like yours didn't. I had to rig it to truly make it mine and work they way I wanted. Just like you did. Interesting channel you have... Go get a Yak my friend.
