People are not obligated to respect you. However, YOU are not obligated to tolerate disrespect. If you realize there is no respect for your presence, it is better to be remembered for your absence than to tolerate a devalued presence.

I loved across country thinking that would help…it does not. Slowly over the years the ties that bind were cut. It is painful as a long for a relationship that never was. Many have passed away and to be honest l don’t miss them, l never cried and that is saying a lot.

I had to do this with my Mother who recently passed. I never stopped loving her but learned to love and respect my self more. I forgave her and told her so on her death bed and wished her peace. I didn't go to her funeral but Im at peace. The feelings are beyond confusing but for the first time in a very long time I’m ok. Going no contact is not for the weak, especially when it's a parent. Know you deserve to be appreciated, your boundaries deserve to be respected. If any of you are going through this tememberbon your saddest and darkest days peace will come. We are warriors.

This is my life. I arrived in Australia 38 years ago , married 45 years. I had to keep doing good and provide for my young family my wife did not find her feet and even blamed me for ruining her life because her mum forced her to marry me . She never came to grip being married since 20. I kept praying and I paid off our house working 3 shifts in 24hrs . Ut rained abuses by the truck load to the point I spent my time asking myself if this is a life but today . My retirement is all about thinking how good I have done. It was not for materialistic gain. I have Provided all the way but I considered I could not turn my back and start over again as my age speaks at me every day despite having being a registered nurse and showed compassion to others which gave me a selfworth. My two kids have succeeded in life and they know our situation. I accept my situation as I know I am In charge of my peace and no one can bring me such a valuable asset . Thank you for this meaningful video. It’s like looking in my mirror. Jose from Australia

yes ! i agree with this statement xcept it could be construed as ‘judgmental’ because it’s important to help others to know how relating can work ‘ no man is an island ‘ i think to give respect possibly you will gain respect ‘lead by example’ but with kindness !as some people .. may feel very rejected - for me UNDERSTANDING. is key ..THEN .. ask don’t assume why someone NEEDS your energy and help them before you close the door on them .. we are all here to learn from each other and nobody has ALL the answers - and isn’t the reason that life is so ‘fastinating’ but yes i totally agree ‘self care ‘ and once you learn it PASS IT ON 🙏 🤗

Growing up in ministry, these concepts were not even on the table. We just did what we had to do, and gave of ourselves to work things out. This day and age is "all about me" which is not what the Bible teaches. In an ideal world, where everyone would get along, one could stop to think about what "I" enjoy, because it would all be pure. Selfishness hurts others, so there is need for being centered on God, others, and then yourself. In my best generational past, we didn't just walk away.

This keeps talking about getting rid of toxic relationships. Duh! We know all this is often hard. What destroys trust is the people you love and trust suddenly announce they are moving away… or they die of some stupid freak accident or disease. We are supposed to hand onto those we love and cherish. Well? What of they have a life changing situation that excludes you? Getting married, moving away. We think it will endure but it never ever does. They just move on with their new life.
