Thank you for this absolutely wonderful interview. There are alot of unexplained happenings even in modern times. Many years ago I was planting flowers for my Mother. Mom had went to the store. I was there alone. I started to go inside the house and when I pulled the storm door open, in the glass was my Father walking behind me in the reflection. I turned around to see Dad but he wasn't there. I pulled the glass door open several times to try an see Dad again, I called to him again and again, but nothing. When Mom came back I told her what I had seen. I figured she wouldn't believe me, but she said she did. Dad had been dead for several years. I never seen anything like this again and I am 76 years old. Some things can't be explained. I was married and did not live there and I came over to plant flowers for her. I was 47 years old at the time. God Bless you Donnie.

Thank you, Donnie and Mr. John, for sharing these stories. My husband and I were riding 4 wheelers a couple of years ago when a big mountain lion ran out in front of us . We've also seen a small black panther . I heard stories about a big foot spotted around this area, but thankfully, I've never seen one. Black bears are around here but seldom seen . Many thanks, Donnie .I enjoy listening to your unexplained stories and all your videos. God bless you and yours.

I could listen to him all day. I loved listening to my grandparents and my dad. I was born and raised here, and back before the area became so populated, when I was small enough that I barely remember it, there was some kind of big cat would come up behind our house and scream. It would pass through a certain time of year and we would hear it. I used to ride horses everywhere, and I saw a big dark brown cat from a distance that was bigger than a hay bale. My horse freaked out and we went home!! I live right off of I-40 close to Seveirville. My dad was born in 1938 and his family lived in the mountains till he was a young boy. The tales he had, makes me feel like I'm sitting at his feet again listening to your videos.

I've heard that scream myself along with several friends camping close to slick rock trailhead. That scream went on for over an hour. Scared us all pretty good. It was dark so we never got a look at it but I know it wasn't a bobcat. That happened in the mid to late 70s. I've been all over those mountains since then and have never heard it again. Great video Donnie.

I am the daughter of the man who John talked about seeing Bigfoot. I heard my dad's stories all my life, over 60 years. One of my earliest memories when I young was hearing daddy talking with his hunting buddies about hearing a " panter" screaming. Sounded like a woman screaming he said. Scared me to death it did! From then on everytime I heard a little Ole hoot owl I thought it was a "panter"!

I’m glad to know panthers are also brown. My friend has a game cam up and he caught what was shaped just like a panther but it didn’t look solid black which threw me off. The pictures are black and white but you could tell it wasn’t solid black. People who go by the “book” will argue with you tho. We are also getting bears in our area which is extremely rare. There’s been two sightings in the 30 years I’ve lived here. Lots of housing development going up. Must be running them out.

I remember my dad telling me that too. My dad's paternal ancestors had been living in the part of Virginia that later became WV since the 1600s, the family kept growing and growing spreading out to Eastern KY, Eastern TN, and about in the middle 1800s my line jumped the Ohio River and lived in south eastern Ohio in the hills there along the river. I am the 1st generation to not be born and raised down in the hills/mountains, but every summer, we went down there to visit family and friends. In the early 1950s my grandparents, my dad and his 2 siblings (all 3 were adults) moved up to northern Indiana for better jobs which they found, but my grandpa couldn't handle the flat land and city living so he went back down to the hills since him and my grandma had divorced. The hills & mountains had a grip on Grandpa and called him back. I also feel the calling to go back down there and so did my dad and his 2 siblings. Whenever we went down to the hills my dad and his 2 siblings opened up and felt at home, at ease and would loosen up and laugh, tell stories, and felt peace being back home again. I miss it. Black bears, mountain lions and copperheads is what I was told to beware of most especially the copperheads that could be found in the outhouses sometimes.

He didn't want to tell you as what it really was. Those hills are rife with the Bigfoots, my friend. My grandmother used to tell me it was the Panthers making those noises, until I saw "a giant monkey man" in the woods behind her house, then she told me what those sounds really were... The Boojum. Boojum is a Cherokee word for Sasquatch. All the old-timers used to blame the noises on big cats. But they knew... Oh wow, I responded to this comment before I watched the video. I didn't even realize they were going to talk about Sasquatch in this video but they are LOL. See? They are out there.

I have been a logger for 30 years, and I have always been in the woods, and I have near 100 acres that joins Rendezvous Mountains State Park in NW North Carolina that I live on. I have seen 3 panthers in my life, and 2 were black. One tried to get in our hog pen when I was a small kid, but I didn't see it, that would have been 4. I saw a black one standing on the white line one night on a local road, and a girl I was seeing at the time was with me, and she saw it too. I had one in my hayfield in front of my house one morning about 20 years ago, just as daylight was breaking, it was black. One day at work logging in Blowing Rock, near Boone, the guys that work for us, and my dad and I were eating a bite of dinner. The truck drivers were gone hauling loads, but there were still 4 of us there. We looked up the truck road through the woods, and standing in the middle of the road was a brown panther, and we all saw it. My friend about half mile from my house got a good trail cam picture of a brown one, and some people over in the west of the county have video of a brown one on their porch looking in their glass door. They are around for sure.

The veil between this earthly plane and the other side is thinning so more people than we know are having all sorts of experiences, but don't talk about it because we are so brainwashed into believing it's abnormal or not true. I could write a book on my own amazing out of the ordinary experiences. Soul is eternal... we are made in God's image and likeness in the spiritual body. It's just the physical body that dies. The very day my mother passed 5000 miles away, she came to visit me in her soul body. She was surprised I could see and hear her from this side. But we had a great last experience. I was not shocked to see her... I just felt incredibly blessed!

Thank you so much Mister Donnie for having your friends pass on the deep lore of the mountains. We got panthers and swamp monkeys down here in the river bottoms of the Canebreak. My grandpa used to warn us to always keep our eyes peeled on the tree limbs above us when we were hunting down there. He said catamounts will lay up on them waiting for deer or other prey to walk beneath them unawares to pounce. As to the swamp monkeys, my great grandmother and great uncle had a clan of them that lived on their land. Me and my cousin saw one pass through a cut line when we were about 12 years old.

My mom said she grew up hearing the stories about painters and so one night when she was walking home in the dark from a friend's house out in the country, she heard something. She thought something was chasing her, so she'd walk faster, and it would walk faster. When she got home, she remembered she had on a new pair of corduroy pants, and it was the pants rubbing together making the sound and her imagination. I always got a kick out of her telling that story. But my great aunt said there were panthers up there in the hills.

I was born and raised in the mountains of east Tennessee and I've seen and heard a lot of unexplainable things around here. And here's one lil story that I would like to share. Its been around 35 year or so ago, give or take. It was a snowy night here in the mountains near the Hawkins county and Greene County line near a lil holler that use to be known as wildcat hollow. But it was late in the evening and had already started getting dark and me and an older cousin of mine were playing in the snow right in front of my mamaws house. We were throwing snowballs and chasing each other around a truck that was sitting in the front yard when I looked up and seen a silhouette of a big figure walking towards us from the mountains behind my mamaws. So me and my cousin just froze as we watched it came around the corner of the house. And as it got closer to us out of the shadow of the darkness and Into the casting of the porch light I could plainly see that it was covered in grayish/black fur from head to toe just like a "big foot." Yeah it scared us a lil bit but we thought it was a family member playing a joke on us., But we shagged ass into the house anyway and barakaded ourselves up against the door as we started telling my mamaw an papaw what we just saw as they thought we was just crazy, or playing a joke on them lol. But we quickly realized that the few family members that were there at the time was all in the living room watching something on TV and was never outside, not to mention no one ever had a costume or anything that could replicate it. So even 35 year later the experience we had that night still crosses my mind daily wondering what the thing was. Ive not ever been a big believer in all the Bigfoot stories and stuff that I've heard about over the years but that one encounter has left me skeptical all these years. This is a true story and an experience that I'll never forget. Noone will ever know what all is hiding in the shadows and darkness of the hollers in the Mysterious Appalachian Mountains.

I love hearing stories like these. I’ve visited the Smokys a few times. And I can’t explain the feeling - but I feel so drawn there. Like it’s “home”. I’m sure it had that affect on a lot of people. But I’d give anything to live there. It’s such a beautiful and mysterious place. And I love nature and want so bad to get away from the city.

Thanks Donnie, blessings from Georgia 🪶✨ I once lived in Panther Creek, (Painter Creek as the locals called it) in Haywood County NC. It was a beautiful area there. I now live in my home county of Marion County GA, years ago while riding the firebreaks in the Oakland Community area with a couple of uncles of mine, we saw a large Black Panther as we were coming out of the woods onto the main highway, highway 41. I've heard them many times over the years deep in the woods. They're there! Where I'm currently living I've seen tracks of a very large cat. Love the Mockingbird and wind chimes 😅 I've got a mockingbird that stays around the property here every day. Thanks to Mr John for sharing his stories. I really enjoyed them all.

This takes me back to listening to folks. I'm looking forward to hearing more. I was lucky enough to have an uncle who gave me a tour of places where things had happened--like a murder, like a ghost,; makes me think people paid a lot more attention to what was around them, they didn't have cameras and a lot of time they were just on their own, nobody with them. Thank you so much for these memories! John is a wonderful story teller!

Donnie thank you very much for this interview with John & sharing him & his stories with us. It’s sad that people who do see these things are afraid to share bc they’re always rebuffed & ridiculed and called liars. I have witnessed something too and I only shared it with my closest friend. I was so shocked at what I saw and where I saw it, that it’s etched in my mind permanently. With such vastness in this world, we should be prepared to witness anything. Thanks for sharing, it brought me back to long ago, sitting on that cool linoleum floor at the foot of my Mamaw, listening to the stories of the old mountain folks and the thangs that went on when you was uh paying attention to what was around you instead of a TV and all the distractions going on in these times.
