What would you do if someone told you they didn't want to see you any more? Do you know how to stop smoking with the help of a book? Or how to write the best explanatory note ever and be forgiven if you're late to work? The characters of these 12 true stories sure know how to deal with all these situations and get over any crisis. It seems these people never get confused.

Story time: My wife was having a C-section for our triplet daughters. During this she tried asking them not to steal any of the kids (she is Pakistani and heard weird stories). I was the closest to her so no one else could hear and she was speaking barely above a whisper due to the anesthesia. The doctor asked what she had said and thinking quickly, I told them with a chuckle, "She was just asking that you do not steal one of her kidneys." The whole operating room busted a gut.

I don't understand the correlation between number 4 & quick thinking. She had an initial idea that she put into action. She then changed her mind just as her opportunity to undo her initial action was lost. Despite her last-second effort to abort her plan, the end result of it all was positive. The man's motion to adjust his hood foiled the woman's attempt to remove her note, while also causing the scrap of paper to fall which brought it to his attention at that moment. The resulting phone call, though initially embarrassing for the woman, proved to be an "ice-breaker", of sorts, to the ensuing conversation. I should think it was perhaps more a fortuitous event, akin to serendipity. Then again, it certainly wouldn't be even close to the first time I've ever been wrong.
@chloeloca9470
@chloeloca9470 6 жыл бұрын
jenraider72 the quick thinking part of this is when he notices the lady taking the note back. He put his hood on because he wanted to see the note and get to know the lady. He put his hood on just in time. That is quick thinking.

@VestigialHead
@VestigialHead 6 жыл бұрын
+Prof.Max Green Yeah it has been used by doctors for quite some time. They give people sugar pills and tell them they are medicine that will fix their problem. The interest I have is that they may be able to see the effect on the brain that a placebo has and then duplicate this effect. Because if people know they are being given a placebo then it does not work. So they will need to be able to recreate the effect under controlled conditions to advance this.
@Excel10tutorial

Then you two should stop discussing because you are ruining my placebo effect... I guess from now on i won't get any improvement using any medicine. I'm honestly glad you quit. My first dad died from that (Not that I didn't love him). He passed on when I was 16, so it's been more than a decade, and I remember how I had pneumonia four times, along with many other breathing problems until about 3 months after he died, and now my mom just mentioned the other day "second hand smoking?" Well, apparently so. I try not to bother people, so I don't even bother people with noise (very sensitive hearing). I wear headphones rather than spread sound everywhere, so spewing smoke everywhere after you *know* what it does is beyond me. I think I may also be one of the few people that actually listens to things at 5% of the max volume (I noticed that when you mute most things, they just get a lost quieter, but they don't mute. Then there are those people that rent a house and say "my property," then blast music loud enough for your skeleton to feel it. Once I had insomnia so badly I ended up in the ER with severe anemia due to side effects from not resting (mainly ulcers which were leaking just a bit faster than I was making blood, so I didn't notice). So things people do affect other people. I try to respect others in that way. Even if they are just not caring.

How do any of these storys prove humans are smarter than we think? If anything all it does is prove some people are idiots and some people get lucky. I always get a bit annoyed because i click on these video's to actually watch something that resembles the title then the storys aren't what it said and they add a different title at the start of the video anyway :/ "twelve storys about people who deserve a medal for quick thinking" is actually different to "12 storys that prove humans are smarter than you think" you are basically admitting to clickbaiting people by using a secondary different title in your own video. I'm sorry if this comment annoys anyone but this is a real pet peeve of mine. I just had to voice it at least once.

I'm a twin and number 8 was just pestering to think that you should need to write on your child's forehead to tell them apart and of all things why numbers instead of theirs names their people not copies of each other.
@Zophje
@Zophje 6 жыл бұрын
I agree. Even if they are identical twins, their personalities would most likely not be identical... however, the reason for numbers instead of names could have been because their names were too long to write.. though.. I guess then you would just write the first letter? unless they both start their name with the same letter... hm..
@bashful_vixen2020
@bashful_vixen2020 6 жыл бұрын
It could be that the numbers are referring to which child was born first, in which case means that the husband knows their names and was having difficulty in seeing which was older. Which in itself is hard when a child is at a young age. It could also be that the numbers were only written on the children's foreheads to humor the wife when she came home.

I'm not sure how the one with the husband putting numbers on the twins' foreheads makes him "smarter than you think"...if he can't tell them apart, why doesn't he have them wear different colour clothing? If a real person did that (the numbers) he isn't smart, he's simple.

That story didn’t make sense. The internet doesn’t stop those interactions. People still chat, play games, etc. at every gathering or visit I go to.
@Destructocorps
@Destructocorps 6 жыл бұрын
Meushell it can stop them, a lot of people don't want to talk at first, so giving them less chance to avoid it, or others less chance to not engage with them usually gets them into a conversation they actually enjoy having.
@Meushell
@Meushell 6 жыл бұрын
Destructocorps, if people don’t want to interact, they don’t. The phone in such a case is an excuse, not the cause. However, have you ever gone to a party/gathering/visit/etc. where everyone doesn’t interact, just spending the time on their phones (as this story implies)? I haven’t. There is always going to be an exception, but everyone? Having no WiFi doesn’t make a house so special that everyone is going to act different.

OML I HAVE ONE THAT IS ALMOST LIKE THE LAST ONE XD So, my entire family went out to eat at a Chinese buffet. I was about 8 or 9 at the time, and my youngest sister was maybe 4, going on 5. There was another family in the booth behind us speaking Chinese. My sisters and I heard them and she goes, "Dad! ASUMANUMANUMANUMANUMANUMANUM!" The family turned around and everyone in the entire room looked at her as we all died laughing and reprimanding her for her insensitivity. That was around 6 or so years ago and still remains one of my fondest memories.

The sixth one reminds me of my tonsil removal surgery... I had to remove all of my piercings before it, so that meant my lip piercings, industrial, even my earrings. I remember waking up once after the surgery, wanting some water and to spit coagulated blood out from the back of my throat, and that's it. Next memories are that I woke up, ate ice cream and drank cold juice and left with my mom. A few days later when I wasn't as drowsy from all the drugs given to me I realized "wait... I got my piercings back on... When did that happen I don't remember" and my mom told me I had put them back on myself after waking up, and she and the nurses had been laughing at me for dropping the piercings over and over again before managing to do it. I have no memory whatsoever of it tho.

Sparkling Ocean Basically, the kid wanted to play on the bike. He was asking the two kids but they didn’t understand English. Then he got kinda angry and said random words and that must’ve meant something like “give me your bike!” Then they gave the bike to him
@YourMajesty143
@YourMajesty143 6 жыл бұрын
Umaari's Stuff Those words didn't mean anything. It was culturally-insensitive the way the kid & his parent behaved about this. The Vietnamese kid probably figured out what he was asking & prob just wanted to shut him up or have him stop bothering them. I hope ppl don't think it's cool to let their kids do that & teach them how to be respectful of others.
@brattrox2939
@brattrox2939 6 жыл бұрын
YourMajesty143 for all we know the kid was mimicking words he heard them say, (probably hoping one was bike lol) he was little enough to observe that, but the parent isn't going to know word for word what was said in a different language. If the kid was rude I doubt he would've been handed a bike, language barriors are tough.
@YourMajesty143
@YourMajesty143 6 жыл бұрын
Bratt Rox It's not about what the words meant or why the other child gave in to the kid's demands. It's the behavior in & of itself. I get teased by adults (co-workers) who overhear me on the phone talking to family. They start mimicking me & mock how I sound. They think they're being funny or clever, but it's insulting & insensitive. When I see how this parent behaved about her son, it helps me to see where this behavior stems from. It starts in childhood. Kids do innocent things that we deem "adorable" or "harmless", not realizing that we set them up to become adults who think it's ok or "cute" to behave in this manner. I'm speaking up bc what you & other ppl are saying enables and tolerates cultural insensitivity. Whether you knowingly or willingly are doing that on purpose is irrelevant, you're still creating a tolerance that allows this to be normal. And it's not like I'm triggered bc I totally understand why it can "appear" harmless, but I also can see how this can create a false misrepresentation of what's deemed respectful to other cultures. Let's just respect each other and teach our kids to be sensitive to others.

I can relate a lot to story #4. Me and my cousin were on the bus, and she had a major crush on this guy, so I told her to go for it, so she put a sticky note on his phone when he was not looking, he found it and called the number on the sticky note, her phone started playing chandelier, and the guy looked at her, it was pretty clear he was not at all interested, and she looked like she was about to cry from embarrassment, so I tapped her on the shoulder and said, " hey you took my phone by accident I think" and then yanked the phone out of her hand, I think she thanked like one hundred times at least
