I'm happy I stumbled on this. You're vocal training clearly shows: great tone, excellent pronunciation, and great attention to your vowel sounds.

Yes the Star Spangled Banner has the same tune but different words. You can also do the Star Spangled Banner in Spanish it's called El Pendon Estrellado.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I've been searching for more of this song's lyrics and most of the recordings that I've found only give two of the verses. Excellent work, sir!

Do you know Warren Zevon? He was introduced as the Ernest Hemmingway of the 12 string but he amended it to "the Charles Bronson of the 12 string". I recommend his Indifference of Heaven. Just beautiful.

Great song, even if it is an old english drinking song and then later changed to the American Star Spangled Banner. I'm still Proud of the original version.

Oh say! Can you see? By the dawn's early light! What so proudly we hailed At the twilight's last gleaming! Whose broad stripes and bright stars Through the perilous fight! O'er the ramparts we watched Were so gallantly streaming And the rockets red glare! The bombs bursting in air! Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there! O say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Great job on a difficult song! I just wish that Congress had chosen a national anthem with a melody that was easier to sing. Oh well, we got what we got. That they would chose a song than only a few can deliver isn't really a big surprise.

This melody is easy to sing! I've never had a problem! This guy is either foreign or drunk! He isn't even close to getting the melody right. Glad to see the lyrics suck. Was just curious what they were.

Ryan Nelson This guy, as you refer me to be, is indeed foreign in that I come from the British Isles where this song originated. I am not drunk as I have been tea total for over 20 years. As to your finding no difficulty singing the melody, that is probably because the melody you sing is your national anthem which, as you will see from the notes that go with the video, took the tune of this song and fitted new lyrics to it. You may find that in your opinion the lyrics suck, but you should take into account that they were written before your country became independent.

I was talking about the 1812 version. We sang it in choir in HS. If u read my further comments on Band Kids' comments u would see I knew the 1814 version. As a true Irishman with my mom from Galway I find this song disgusting at times. Plus I HATE ROME more than I HATE BACCHUS! Wine is good but the sex is NASTY! We are free Anglicans HERE!! I want freedom from ROME and LONDON!

The problem I see with the rendition here (looking at the original sheet music) is that the part of the line "Voice, fiddle, and flute..." should be nearly an octave higher than the preceding "...Jolly old Grecian" part of the line, almost as if Anacreon is giving his response from on high. Song is still good, but not (in my opinion) a great example of what the song should sound like. Lyrics are great though, very much the classic petitioning of a muse for inspiration.

Too difficult to be a drinking song?? My late father, who was born in the middle of the US in 1898 and was a teetotaler all his life, always maintained that this had to be a drinking song because you'd have to be drunk to be foolhardy enough to attempt to sing it.

Speaking of Congress, if you go to Kevin Canuck's channel and search for 'the Congress', you'll find an interesting song about Congress written from the loyalist point of view. It would be great if you could do this song, but I'm afraid the melody kind of sucks. The words are okay, though... The Congress - Kevin B.

The lyrics are as friccking stupid as the melody is sensitive and brilliant. And both of them are far advanced beyond the superpower that claims them.
