The joy i felt learning all 12 made it home alive is a bit overwhelming.
@TheAntoinetteBailey2 жыл бұрын
I was on edge the whole movie about all 12 of them making it out that but I kept going back to "12 Strong, 12 Strong" so they all will probably make it out. When Spencer got injured my heart dropped but was so glad to learn at the end that he was ok. I watch a ton of battle/war movies so I'm always expecting some to not make it home but this movie was breath of fresh air. First time ever smiling ear to ear after watching a movie like this 😁

Three years before the movie came out, I sat next to this guy on an airplane who told me stories about the war in Afghanistan, about fighting the Taliban on horseback. I enjoyed our conversation, but sort of wondered how much truth there was in the stories. Then I saw the trailer for this movie and was like holy s*** it was him!

So here I am reviewing this movie after reading the comments. Just saw the movie and it made me emotional thinking of the Men/Women currently serving. I retired in 91 after 21 years. 5 in the 82d, 3 LRSU etc, never fired a shot or was fired upon. I felt like a chess piece being moved around and couldn't do anything about it. Everytime something always came up, volunteered twice for Vietnam, didn't happen, partly because I was in the 82d and they'd just rotated back, almost deployed to Nam once but was pulled a few days before deployment. Another time, I blew out an ACL and was nondeployable etc etc, I mention these only because I couldn't get into the fight to save myself. But I did walk in the shadow of a few heros and I'll always love all of them. Movies like these don't make me think about which branch is better etc, just how I wish I could still be there with them. I miss the bond, the commitment to something, etc. I'm glad there's movies like this that help me to remember those still serving (honorably I hope). There's enough civilians for me to hate, I don't need to turn on this branch or that branch. Even a dog is smart enough not to shit in it's own yard. To those who've served and those still serving, I wish you all the best and I miss you............

I met a guy on a flight shortly after 9/11 and was reading the book Jawbreaker at that time. This guy had a very distinct British accent and I had one of my Navy hats on. He asked me what I did and where I had been stationed. Then he asked if he could see my book which I let him look at. He skimmed through it and said that it was pretty close to how it was over there. I realized then that he had to be some sort of special operator and I suspected SAS, or SBS. Finally I asked him if he was SAS and he responded with you know I can't tell you that. My response was you just did, then we exchanged a few expletives and laughed and I bought him a beer. To me the SAS & SBS are like the granddaddy of all special forces. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!

Much honor, appreciation, and respect to these 12 valiant men of bravery and courage. I also served with the 5th Special Forces Group at Ft. Campbell, KY, and I'm honored to have served with honorable men like these. And much credit to all the allied Afghan fighters who we got to fight next to and helped us win that victory! The only thing I didn't like or appreciate about the movie was having SFC Ben Milo's character played by a black guy. Nothing against blacks, but they didn't earn any credit for this spectacular victory of ODA 595 because they weren't there and don't deserve the credit for it. So who is Mitch Nelson?? Was it just a screen name?? And why didn't Hemsworth talk to the guy who he's gonna be portraying?
@scissorbeaksgames82082 жыл бұрын
Then Captain Mark Nutsch is taking the credit for Hemsworth's character because another Captain in that group, wasn't available due to having been killed in action a few years after this operation took place but well before the book was written and movie filmed. It is possible that Hemsworth's character portrays a combination of the two actual real-life Captains. Hemsworth's on screen wife (Elsa Pataky as Jean Nelson) actually well portrays the real-life deceased Captain's wife. It is difficult to have a public figurehead who was KIA, so Captain Nutsch has stepped up. Due to family privacy issues, I will refrain from stating his name. May my friend RIP.

The movie could have been a little more accurate, and I think people can give less crap about the Hollywood BS. I mean the emotional part where they actually gave a piece of the twin tower proper burial with an American flag wraping over it. That emotional spectrum would have done great in the movie, instead of just Chris digging a dirt by hand, and just putting the piece in there.

General AR Dostum is old now and has fled Afghanistan alongside with General Atta while the Americans were leaving, though he was in a powerful position since last 20 years, he even became the 1st vice President in 2014, but he’s too old to fight now and is currently residing in turkey while the same Taliban they defeated in 2001 with American help, are in a 100% geographical control in Afghanistan even more powerful then they were in 2001. At that time they controlled 80% of the country while northern alliance had 20%, & now there’s nothing left of northern alliance. Much powerful, entire country under control, holding the 85 billion dollars worth artillery the US left behind, this is what USA achieved in Afghanistan in 20 years by wasting thousands of men & trillions of American tax money, congratulations. What a great way to avenge 911.

The heartbreak to us (vets) is our government dragged out this victory into a BS defense industry, occupation shit show for 20 fricking years. Reagan doctrine said win and get out. Deep state coupled with Dafense money dragged it our and ruined tens of thousands of our American best... shame on those MFers and props to the real best of us.

To bad this movie doesn't properly portray what happened, the men or the mission. There were multiple AF CCT operators with the ODC's. Much of what occurred in this movie did not occur on the actual mission. None of the enlisted SF or CCT were consulted or involved in this movie to make it realistic. The advisors were ex SEALS and they consulted 2 of the SF officers but they were not advisors on set. Enjoy the movie, but it isn't a true representation of the mission or the men.
