I’m getting two Slick Collar packages for my lady and me, because I trust Antonio’s suggestion. I’ve been listening carefully for a year now, and his advice is working for me. My new job’s dress requirements show I need to upgrade my dress shirts, and I am going to add Slick Collar some shirts I already have in my arsenal.

It's amazing how a little attention to detail can really bring an outfit together. Spray starch clothing, polished boots and a fresh shave and hair cut gives you the confidence to face any challenge. Having served a little time in Defence makes dressing sharp second nature too.

For the iron, I usually use a steamer like what they use in the clothing shops. A lot easier to handle than an iron and a lot faster.

Yellowing can happen on other light colours too - blue is a good one. I've had to talk to a boss who was wearing his pollies with shirts that were fading and suggested that if he couldn't keep up standards how was I to enforce them amongst troops. He bought new shirts...

This video is a good hit! A helpful video would be how to pair boots and jackets. I like duck canvas and waxed jackets for work, and definitely love me a leather jacket. Matching and contrasting/complimenting boots to a jacket, especially a leather one, is something I think many men overcomplicate.

To keep your white shirts white always use liquid or concentrated laundry powder with no fillers. As soon as the cycle finished take them and hang on a hanger inside out of the sun to dry. I have white business shirts that are 8 years old and no sign of yellowing.

The dust you want to clean off your glasses can be abrasive, and using any cloth just rubs that abrasive into the lens, dulling them over time. I wash my glasses with soap and water. I don't use a bar soap because that has hardeners that build up a deposit in the crevices between the lens and the frame. I use dishwashing detergent as that is excellent for removing oily smudges.
@phantomspaceman

If you have a coating on the lense (like non-reflective) then soap will cause it to break down and peel. Detergent even more so. Use the alcohol base spray to remove oil. You don't usually need soap to get dust off, water is fine.

I’ve worn high quality merino socks from Italian companies and Darn Tough/Smartwool and I’ve never worn a hole in them, they get threadbare but never tear. The first time one did Smartwool gave me a new pair. Once you go Merino socks you never go back. I’ve tried cashmere $$$$ but it’s not worth it.

I turned thirty this year and realize there was still dressing and behaving a lot like a boy, I owned a mismatch suit that was full of holes. Most of my wardrobe was skull covered shirts and Gothic cargo pants. But I just turned 30 and realized I haven't even bought a house. I have been penny-pinching for 7 years attempting to save up for a house, but I'm realizing I need to start actually moving forward in life. So I'm ditching the tshirts and I'm gonna go start with a sport jacket and some nice fitting slacks.

One of the things my mother learned me as a kid, is how to repear my clothing by myself. Most things are an easy fix if you know how to do it. When it comes to socks... holes are a nightmare. I use a different method; turn them inside out, put something inside it which is solid and "cross-stitch" like a star all around the hole until it's closed. With fine materials indeed a supperting stitch around the hole is a more solid option, because the material could rip open. Also I never wear socks anymore which aren't preformed to left and right foot. Last year I bought a Tenson winterparka online for almost nothing, just because one button had fallen of. I went to a store which sells all kinds of buttons and sewing supplies, bought about the same buttons + 2 extra just in case and replaced all of them. Now I own a perfect and realy expensive parka. Only detail; there's no brandname on the buttons.

Much respect, man. The devil is in the detail and much of this stuff nobody teaches you as you become a man. I used to be very rebellious and a contrarian when it came to looking sharp, but now I see the value in it and it is incredibly important. If one doesn't care to proyect a favorable image of oneself then you might be communicating things you didn't mean to.

One thing I wanted to add is if like me you have been biting your nails for your entire life and nothing works try getting acrylic nails. And you can get it done in a way that looks almost 100% natural if your nail tech has the skills to do so. You don't need to get color. But to make it look natural it will have a bit of color, but nothing that looks like nail polish or gel. And then seal it all with a clear coat. You can get it short they don't have to be long, and you can ask them to file it so the acrylic isn't thick. I've been doing this for years and it was the only thing that got me to stop and nobody is none the wiser.

America’s first icon was George Washington. One of it’s most valuable and famous statues is Jean-Antoine Houdon’s sculpture of George Washington, completed in the early 1790s. Washington, however, is missing a button. Art critic, Robert Hughes, points out that this was done to reflect the fact that he was not a stickler of style. (Shock of the New).
