In this video, we’ll discuss the top 12 things birds such as Parrots, Parakeets, Budgerigar hate and you should avoid.
Touching their backs
If you stroke or pet your bird on the back or around the tail area, it can make the bird sexually frustrated. Birds mate by standing on top of each other's backs, so when you touch their back, they may be confused about what’s happening. This type of "petting" induces strong hormones and gets a bird ready to breed. It can lead to physical and emotional problems
So unlike how you pet a dog or a cat, just pet your bird around its head.
Certain smells
Birds do not have a strong sense of smell, but there are certain scents that they hate. For instance, birds hate the smell of garlic because it contains a natural chemical called allicin, which irritates them.
The scent of a lemon is also too strong for birds, so they will quickly fly away if they catch a whiff of it.
Birds also dislike the smells of peppermint, vinegar, citronella, chili pepper, and chili powder.
So, if you are cooking with chili peppers, garlic, or vinegar in the kitchen, it's important to move your bird to a well-ventilated area away from your kitchen.
Feeding them the same food
In the wild, birds have a diverse diet that includes various veggies, nuts, berries, and other things they could forage for.
With a strictly pellet-based diet, they lose out on the potential nutrients that those food sources provide. Striking the right balance between a pellet, veggies, and fruit-based diet will give your birds a better-balanced diet. With the right nutrition plan in place, your birds will enjoy a healthier and happier life.
Being grabbed
Most birds hate being picked up because they feel like a predator is grabbing them.
Unless there is deep trust between you and your bird and they willingly let you pick them up for fun, it is best not to try to hold them.
Inappropriate perches
Certain perches can put too much pressure on your bird's feet, which can result in a painful infection called bumblefoot. If left untreated, bumblefoot can cause serious harm to your bird's feet.
Dowel perches, hard plastic perches, cement perches, or perches covered with sandpaper or burlap can lead to bumblefoot. To prevent this condition, always look for natural wood and rope perches, and provide your feathered friends with several perches that vary in size.
Isolating them
Many bird species, like parakeets and parrots, are social flock animals. They fly and forage together at the same feeding grounds. These birds enjoy being part of a community and having a friend to play with.
Keeping these birds alone can lead to mental health issues, as well as feelings of loneliness and sadness.

Change
Change can sometimes make birds feel uncomfortable! If any changes are made to your bird’s home, such as the decor inside or even outside of their cage, they might end up feeling afraid.
Living in a small cage
Birds aren't meant to live in a cage at all, and especially not in a tiny cage. If you decide to take the responsibility of raising and keeping a pet bird, then treat them properly by getting them a large cage.
Loud Noises
Parrots can be loud indeed, but loud noises may also make them feel uneasy. Slamming of doors, yelling to one another in other rooms of the house, the sound of blenders, or sirens going off can stress out your bird and make them anxious.
Strangers
Birds are generally cautious creatures, and they may perceive unfamiliar humans as potential threats.
Being clipped
Wing clipping is a psychologically painful and traumatic experience. It’s not uncommon for a previously flighted parrot to sink into depression after being clipped, which can also induce a lack of appetite. Clipping their wings also restricts their ability to exercise, and makes them unable to escape from predators or other animals in the household.
Grilling
Birds are also extremely susceptible to any source of smoke. Your bird should not be exposed to cigarettes, candle, incense, grilling smoke, and fireplace fumes.
Likewise, most cooking pots and pans have layers of Teflon or aluminum. When these get too hot, they emit harmful fumes.
Likewise, never use hair spray, air refresheners, perfumes, or pesticides near your feathered friend.
Sleeping in complete darkness
In a recent research, scientists examined whether birds like to sleep in total darkness or with a small amount of dim white LED light.
This means that pet birds aren't bothered by city lights, and it's a good idea not to cover their cage.
Certain colors
It may sound absurd, but certain colors scare birds.
For example, many parrots have aversion toward the color red.
In any case, introduce your bird more slowly to your bright new shirt.
Wild Birds
According to reports, wild birds are the biggest fear for other birds. Eagle or hawk shadows appearing on the ground outside may send some birds into a stress response.

Thanks for the info, I’m doing a ton of research because I’m going to get a Green Cheek Conure one day, even though all birds are different, I still think that this is somewhat useful.🖤

Well i was swimming in my apartment pool today and i saw a parrot near the lifeguard (but is not really the lifeguard's pet) and here are 4 things i saw about the parrot: 1. The parrot has a sharp tip on its beak that allows it to chew food (even if most birds can't) 2. Parrots and parakeets have 4 toes - 2 in front and 2 in the back for climbing unlike chickens who only have 3 toes however the parrot used its foot to grab the food when chewing 3. The parrot was somehow balancing on one foot (it used its other foot to hold the food) 4. If a parrot's eye pupils shrink and grow it means the bird is angry
