Midwife here, the line on your belly is believed to guide baby to your chest after birth. As newborns can only see high contrast grey scale colors, this line and the dark areolas help baby find its food source if mom isn’t able to help. Nature is really clever! ;)

morning sickness is called morning sickness because the first trimester can also be referred to as “morning”. so it isn’t morning sickness as in it only happens in the morning, it is called that because it normally disappears once the first trimester is over.

@dnllmr17 күн бұрын
Define sleeping through the night please! Some people have different definitions.
@heytheresacha17 күн бұрын
Yes always define sleeping through the night because sleeping through the night as in a full adults rest (8 hours) or a full baby rest (12 hours) is not always safe!! My baby is 8 months and I still have to do night feeds at 11pm and 5am because shes a preemie (though the 5am is just her habit actually haha)
@anamsalas17 күн бұрын
@@dnllmri agree because I have 2 children and even though I knew what to do for my second they still reminded me to feed baby, this young every 2-3 hours because their belly is so small that you need to feed them often. 4 if you are really really tired. One time I went over from being very tired myself and my baby was fussy and almost didn’t want to eat. So I agree, please define.

Biggest advice to anyone getting ready to be a mom is to ask for help in the first 4 to 6 weeks even if you feel like you don't need it. There is a lot of mental exhaustion in fatigue that comes with having a newborn & nothing can prepare you for it. Thankfully I didn't have postpartum depression however I know I spent more time crying than I had anticipated. Good luck Mama! You'll do great.

Old lady here who has had multiple children (I'm in my mid 30's) Something I wish I had been told is how it can take anywhere from 6 months to 3 years for our hormones to balance and go back to normal after having a baby(this has been studied and proven). Now remember our hormones control the chemicals being released in our brain, so this impacts our overall brain function which impacts our body and emotions. This can affect our memory, our ability to handle stress, our moods/mood swings, depression, concentration, focus etc etc. This is why it's ABSOLUTELY important and necessary to eat foods, drinks, and supplements that help our bodies heal and that help balance our hormones. I really wish ob/gyn's/ midwives would talk about this more. Health after having a baby is so important to a faster easier recovery.

You're not an old lady!! I'm in my late 30s here, I have followed them for years for the fashion / lifestyle / life as a woman kinda content. They might be a little over 10 years younger that me, but I don't think B&B would mind women my/our age being followers. There's probably quite a lot of us here, plus older. I don't think you should start calling yourself old at such a young age - in 20 years time you'll realise how young you still were. "Old lady" is reserved for 70+ I think!

No one told me about the hormone “relaxin.” Literally what it sounds like, your joints will start to loosen and relax around your pelvis to prepare for labor. Mine was so bad and painful I would fall to the floor because I truly couldn’t hold my body weight. It’s like your joints disappear and stabbing pain shows up in its place. Super fun.

Breastfeeding can hurt at first, having a lactation consultant is huge, and they are a great support mentally, emotionally and physically lol. When your milk comes in around day 3 after baby is here you can become very emotional, I know I did and that is normal. All I can say is give yourself grace in all the feelings, good and some not so good it is normal, you go through so much and it's ok to feel all the feels ❤
