We took our ADULT children in February and going back to the hotel midday to take a nap was an essential part of our day - my advice, do not skip this! Just a 1 hour nap was enough to get us refreshed and raring to go again. Our fun level skyrocketed and we could stay long into the night until closing.

If there's torrential rain and the park starts to flood and people are leaving, go on the Kilimanjaro safari. I will never have a more exciting experience at Disney than seeing the silhouettes of elephants and giraffes against lightning strikes in a raging thunderstorm at night in the savannah. Girl I was dating at the time sat window-side and got soaked from the vehicle splashing through the flooded track - really turned the safari turn into a water ride. So much fun, I can't believe it wasn't closed and they let people on in that weather.

I'm surprised they let you go on the safari and that the animals were still outside. When there's lightning, they close all outdoor attractions. Our first time in Animal Kingdom, we had already done almost all indoor attractions when it started to pour. When the rain slowed down, we decided to try again and we were in line to meet Pocohontas when they announced they had to close because there was lightning in the area. All outdoor attractions were closing, which meant the only thing to do at that time was go to a restaurant, or see one of the three shows. The safari was shut down. Everyone headed for the restaurants and they wouldn't let us check in 30 minutes early for our reservation so we had to stand out in the rain because the covered area was already packed with people. They let in walk-ups while we weren't allowed in because it wasn't time for our reservation. By the time we got in, we were wet despite our ponchos and they had the AC cranked so high that we were FREEZING. Same thing happened in 2019....it started pouring and there was lightning, so everyone flocked to the indoor stuff. Flight of Passage went down and there was just nothing left to do. Animal Kingdom is the WORST place to be during a storm because there are so few indoor attractions and all the outdoor ones are closed.

@Grass Jelly unfortunately, there's only a very small handful of rides with Single-rider: Test Track, Rock'N Roller Coaster, Smuggler's Run and Expedition Everest. There's always a chance to be pulled from line to fill in a spot (happened to me twice, once at Soarin last July and Flight of Passage this past February), but no guarantee.

If with a big group, DON'T spend your all of your time together. Pick out times to spend and activities to do together, but also make sure everyone also can fit in their biggest personal musts. There's bound to be hours of waiting on everyone, and I speak from personal experience I've missed out on many things I really, really wanted to do while waiting on everyone, like getting some DFB-certified snacks or meeting a character while others are waiting for rides. This rule also comes on handy for when dining preferences differ or there aren't enough tables to accommodate everyone in the same dining window. Don't feel guilty about splitting up for a bit: time at Disney is expensive and valuable, and we're all there to have a good time!

In 2021 our family, 12, one group photo per day, one reserved meal, the rest of the time was individual choice. Multiple group photos and ride photos, no planning, just coincidence. In 8 days over 300 photos. (:

I would say this is true even of just smaller groups. My son is autistic and gets overwhelmed pretty quickly. One of us takes him back to the resort while the other goes with our daughter to keep having fun in the parks. And some days we'll just let him stay at the resort to play on his computer and we'll leave plenty of snacks in the room for him, since he's a very picky eater and won't eat most of the disney food anyway. Then we'll pick him up for dinner. He's 15 and likes this arrangement. Our first trip, my husband insisted we all had to stick together the whole time, and only do rides that EVERYONE wanted to do. The result was that we all missed out on things we really wanted to do because someone else DIDN'T. No one got to have much fun. I finally put the kabosh on that and we were all much happier for it. There were still things, mostly dining experiences, that we couldn't do because my son wouldn't eat anything on the menu, but there are so many options that we always found great dining experiences anyway. This summer I'm taking just my daughter, because my husband doesn't want to come and my son would rather stay home this time as he doesn't love traveling. Bottom line is that people are different and no one should be forced into doing things they don't like, nor should they have to miss things they really want to do because someone else's tastes differ.

The thing with rope dropping headliners (Mine Train, Flight of Passage, etc) is that if you're not at or near the front of the pack for Early Entry you are absolutely wasting your time beelining to them because waits build so fast at them. The best way to use EE is to minimize waits for those rides so you can then hit others while waits are still low because of all the stragglers piling into lines you just walked onto. If you're at the front of the pack you will absolutely get more than just that 1 headliner done because they'll be walk ons. Not so much if you're rolling in 15 minutes before EE starts. If you can't be there 60 minutes prior your EE is better spent doing those second tier attractions that build heavy waits like AJ said.
@Troopertroll
@Troopertroll Жыл бұрын
Going with a family, you're doomed to wait. But if you're a spry young adult with friends, it turns into a track & field race with everyone else trying to get ahead of the crowds. I actually find it pretty fun weaving through the crowds to get to the big rides far from the entrance x] Islands of Adventure in Universal is arguably worse at rope drop because the most crowded rides are all at the farthest points from the single entrance area, but Pandora in Animal Kingdom really gives it a run for its money.

THANK YOU! I went a year ago and didn't ride the Avatar ride. It wasn't working until it was time for my friend and I to leave then had an immediate two hour wait. I took so much grief (and STILL DO) from friends because "it's the best ride" but I wasn't entirely sold on it. My friend and I rode what we wanted and we were SOOO happy!

#1 literally happened to me last week at Animal Kingdom. We had 1 hour and 30 minutes to spare before our Tusker House reservation and the line only said 55 minutes but it was close to 80 minutes not including the ride and at that point we were too committed to just get out of line. The hostess was very understanding though making sure we didn’t get charged and we opted to just skip it.

We head for Tomorrowland and Buzz Lightyear first off. It was a walk-on and we actually rode it twice in a row and then moved to Carousel and then TTA and completed that section in an hour. We couldn't believe that 15 minutes before the official park opening the queue for 7 Dwarfs was already 50 minutes! Just crazy!

DUDEEEEEE at AK with early access, we did Everest countless times in one morning. It was a walk on from 730am-9am! We still got to do ALL the rides, but rather than wait the 3 hours for Flight of Passage, we went later at night when it was 50 minutes and we got to eat snacks in line.

After getting married at Epcot in December, my husband wanted to spend part of our honeymoon in a cars suite, so we booked part of our split stay at AOA. Our room was filthy, the DVC people in the lobby stopped us multiple times and made us feel poor because we were at a value resort for part of our honeymoon, and all of the food we had was terrible. I never had a bad experience at a value until then, but I was so upset that’s how our honeymoon and my husband’s first trip went.

A few years ago, I put together a packing checklist that covers all needed items each family member (5 of us) needs to have for our vacations. I keep this checklist stored in the note section on my phone, and update it to fit our upcoming vacation. My family has an on going group family chat on their devices, so a week before our vacation, I send the checklist out on the family chat. The day before the trip (and morning of trip), I go over the checklist with each family member to make sure they didn’t overlook any items. We also only pack enough clothes for half of the vacation length, and do laundry in the resort laundry facilities at the half way point of our trip. We also bring food from home to eat for breakfast in our resort room, so breakfast is quick, cheaper, and taken care of before leaving for the parks for the day.

Yup those Ostriches can be a right pain. got stuck on the safari as two decided to have a staring contest with their own reflections in the windows of one of the staff trucks, standing either side of it right next to the safari route track, we were not going anywhere. By time we got out the standby line was at the bridge heading back over to Discovery Island, not sure why people were thinking of joining that queue at that point in time...Have never managed a good photo of the Cheetahs, always when they are out we have not stopped :( One thing that I keep trying to not do but fail every time, is to get wound up by the little things. On my last trip (Jan 2022) with masks still in full effect, got a ILL for Frozen Ever After, Cast member on the loading bay screaming "only 1 party per row", luck out on front row, but get a couple seated in with me, the sort that as soon as we left the dock masks were pulled down, and they both had a sniffle. As an international traveller the hoops we had to go through to be able to travel, of course risks were possible but some people were just so blasé about it. Just put such a dampner on that day, whn an eye roll and sigh might have saved it. Was fine but got pinged on the plane back, typical.

This definitely ruined my dinner one year! Went during the off-season time to save money, and most of THAT worked great! But we went on Kali River Rapids ride (AK), right before our reservations at Yak & Yeti. We came off the ride soaking wet and freezing! Walked into the restaurant that had the AC turned up high! We really couldn't enjoy the food because we were too busy shivering. 😢

Another big don’t: don’t assume it’s always going to be hot and balmy especially in the winter. Yes most likely it’s going to be 70s+ and sunny for most of the year with occasional rain storms. But I went during spring break years ago from Ohio and figured it would be super hot. Nope. 50s and rainy for 5 days straight. I had to regretfully buy a hoody because I had only brought tank tops and shorts.

I was out there with my mom about 2 years ago and we missed our dining reservation at Sci-Fi because Rise of Resistance broke down while we were on it. While they did accommodate us, we had to wait an extra hour for a table and we were not able to sit at a car like we reserved and had to sit at a regular table. While we were upset at first, it ended up working out in the end since we got an amazing meal and we actually able to talk to each other because we weren’t cramped in a car. At the time Rise was a virtual queue and we though that we should prioritize the ride because of the strict window. We also thought we had plenty of time to ride since our reservation wasn’t for another 50 min. We were wrong. They told us at the restaurant that if we show our dining reservation at the checkin for the virtual queue, that they will let us in later. So we should have done our food reservation first. (At least that’s what they told us 2 years ago lol)

In addition to the safari, don't go on Kali River Rapids right before a dining reservation. 😂 I have been to Disney many times and yet I pulled this rookie move on our last trip. It was mid August and I thought we will have 40 mins before we eat, that is plenty of time for the FL sun to dry us off. It was not. 😂 I sat in the VERY air conditioned Yak and Yeti freezing with now wet and cold clothes sticking to me. I was so miserable the entire meal and couldn't wait to leave. This is a shame because the food was amazing. I need to go back and redo that meal properly. 😂

I don't know how you found your way in to my feed, but your videos are not only well done, but they also serve to highlight what a racket that Disney has become. I'm old enough to remember the ticket books and I still have one in an album somewhere. Anaheim was a stones throw from my childhood home, so we got to visit more than most but the 70's were a different time. Your videos illustrate the actually terrifying logistical nightmare that is a Disney Vacation. I cannot see spending that kind of money to be corralled in to the constraints of doing everything "right" in order to have fun. I prefer a quiet beach with NO itinerary. One other thing that I have noticed is the SIZE of the guest. The Food Pyramid has ruined hundreds of thousands of lives since it was created. I once had to be SHOVED in to the seat of a coaster because I was so huge. I was already sitting in the "fat boy" seat too. That triggered a change in me to get healthy and lose weight.

Tbh, I wish I insisted more on taking a break while we were at Orlando, even if we only had one day at Disney. While i was more protected against blisters then (thank goodness there were some padding you could stick to the bottom of your feet and they'd mostly keep you safe!), I still needed a TON of rest and idk if I was honestly able to express that as well as I could've aside from pretty much throwing a five year old tantrum and saying I NEED TO SIT DOWN! xD I eventually did get to rest at some restaraunts while the other two went and did rides. Felt good to have some cool air and have a drink, relax on my phone for a bit, etc. Tiredness and (mostly) thrashy rides aside, I still had fun, and I fulfilled my promise to my mom that we'd go to the Harry Potter park. She couldn't make it before passing, so I did so with my dad and stepmom. I think I can walk a little bit more nowadays, but back then, I wasn't prepared for all that, nor really in the best shape for it. To put it simply, I went from a ~3x size to a 1x/Large size (honestly depends on the shirt) t-shirt since then. I also took on a whole Air Force base tour this year and didn't have hurt feet until it was about time to leave. That base alone made me really want to be set, and since it was for my uncle's retirement, I was gonna soldier through the work no matter what. It was honestly worth it~ But if we do go to a theme park for more than a day, especially another large one like Disney or Universal, I'll have to try expressing my tiredness better, and maybe come up with a game plan beyond "ride, eat, stay at hotel", lol. I'd probably be more into the indoor shows, myself, if there's something less Broadway-esque and more like "It's Hard Being a Bug" or whatnot. Guess I would add the tip to "not just go because you want to, and not being able to do all that walking", obvious as it should be. I REALLY wanted to do those parks, but my poor body wasn't ready! I could probably do more now, but I think the weather would also do some holding back if it didn't rain. I'd honestly love a little rain during those days~ Not a thunderstorm or something dangerous, but let it rain! xD

Go on Guardians of the Galaxy. I went on it twice last time I was in Disney World and the second time I have to go back to the Hotel and go to bed for the rest of the night. The drive back to the hotel was so hard. I was so sick for the rest of the night. Ever again.

Funny I’m trying to change 3 luggage bags into 1 bag today. We leave Friday and don’t want to spend extra $300 for 3 bags round trip. At $45 each bag each way.

I made the first mistake lol, I asked how long it was and it had a 5 minute wait time, told it was 20 minutes and had a 45min before a reservation so went on, a giraffe was sitting in the road 😂

What if Lightning Lane time interferes with dining reservation? If you know a couple hours out who do you talk to first? Can you choose a different Lightning Lane time on Genie+ than what is suggested? Not going to miss Space 220!
@-Bert-
@-Bert- Жыл бұрын
As long as it isn’t one of the individual lightning lanes, like the ones you have to pay a separate price for, you should be able to edit the time of your reservation up until it’s ready. Just click on the reservation and hit ‘modify’

I have a quick question I’m sure someone can answer😊 My husband and I are going to Disney for a week at the beginning of November this year. When it comes to booking lightning lanes, ILL’s and virtual queues, can I be booking one thing at 7 am while he is booking another? For example can he book our first lightning lane while I’m trying to get a virtual queue or ILL for Guardians? Thanks!

Good advice, except Tron. Due to its low capacity and the mass of people trying to ride in the dark their rules are solid. When withscreenshots, you need a GET UMBRELLA. Mt Teon group 15 was called at 8:40... on a day with a 9am open! We got there at9, rented a stroller and went straight there. By 10:5 am they were on tothe next group and. FLAT TURNED ME AWAY. Thankfully the GET girl was super nice and gave us an experience pass for us (LL and open ended time). You'll get taken care of, just don't be frustrated if you're not talking to the top decision maker.

PLEASE HELP ME! I would love to have feedback on what I’ve got planned. Please help it’s my wife’s 50th birthday. We are going for our first time to Magic Kingdom. We are going on a Sunday and only have one day in two weeks. I was lucky enough to get reservations for “Be My Guest” and the Pre-fireworks dessert show. Not sure how Igor both but kept trying. So my question is how long does it take to do Be my Guest?? Will we have enough time to do the rides minus Tron and Space Mountain? This is for my wife and want to see a lot of the shows to that we don’t have here in Disneyland which we do pretty often.

Depends on what time your reservations are for. But rope drop and skipping a few rides and keeping fantasyland or tomorrowland rides for after fireworks should work. Genie+ too since it is just one day and 2 people, shouldn’t be too expensive.

@@ambermiller3710 Genie plus is a must and plan on doing LL for Snow White. Be our Guest is at 4:30. 7:30 I think is pre party. Any idea how long Be my guest is. Dumbo is one ride we want to do. There doesn’t seem to be a lot there.

@@CUTravel1st last time we did BoG it was a good hour. Really depends on your waiter, but we weren’t in any rush. Dumbo wait times seem to go down after the fireworks also. And it’s fun to do that at night time. I would try to stack up the good Genie+ rides between 1-4, have a snack at 11, ride lines with short wait times or see some shows until your scheduled LLs start. Or just sit and people watch, hit all the photo pass spots. Do some walking between BoG and the dessert party. You will be full. and then use genie+ to get LLs as you finish up the night.

I love what you do and you have helped my family (immensely) plan our last 3 Disney World vacations. Thank you so much ! But, please, please, please, update your stock footage, I’m am so very tired of seeing people in masks…. The “pandemic” (and its draconian, fear mongering policies) almost destroyed my family. We spent 1-2 days at all of the World parks in Nov. 2022 and we were so happy to see less people wearing masks at Disney than at our local Walmart in Houston.
