Tips on how I have been growing microgreens the easy way in my diy grow room that I set up for growing during the Winter. I started using clay pebbles and now I am on to several experiments to see what kinds of microgreens we can grow this way and also on a quest to reduce my plastic usage in hydroponics.

I appreciate you sharing your experience, Mike. You got me started on hydroponics a few weeks ago, and I have to say I am really enjoying the ride. I'm making a few mistakes but learning what not to do, and having some success. Hopefully I can graduate to peppers and tomatoes by spring.

Started my indoor growing last month and thought I’d check your channel again. I think I got another honorable mention in this video as maybe the one who suggested broccoli raab. If it wasn’t me, I’m still honored to have supported any other who also used it. For me it was serendipitous because I was already growing sprouts in my kitchen and I had a few kilos of organic seeds for that purpose when I came across your channel and didn’t want to wait for the Pak Choi so I began with the rapini. It was a lucky find for me because I had little experience growing before and none with hydroponics. Yes the rapini grows tall quickly indoors but I moved it outdoors last year quickly. And now this month, I’m harvesting the tall leaves as they get close to the lights and adding them to my breakfast eggs. Now with a rather successful season under my belt and an earlier start I’m looking forward to a larger harvest and variety from last year. Already have rapini, arugula, red lettuce and Pak Choi going and no shortage of seeds I saved from meals from last year. I just need room because in New York winter won’t be over for at least another month. And while it feels like spring already we can get snow into April. Thanks for all you do Mike. You’re still inspiring.

Thanks, that was a great suggestion. I'm glad you can be so productive even through the Winter, that's awesome! Keep up the great work and here's to a bountiful Spring.

Epic! This proves that where there's a will, there's a way. Virtually any container will work as long as you fill it with equal parts solution and air, then add a bit of light. The rest is simply a matter of time and imagination. Cheers from N. FL.! (got up to 80F today after being down in the 20sF for the last couple weeks. Spring may finally be on the way! )

I think the soup pots will do ok for the first planting but may get a bit squishy after that. I'm ok with growing in plastic, but I look forward to your results as always. Cheers!

I second the comment here. Mike, you are an amazing human being! Not only changing snd teaching people how to come by their food, but lifting spirits, creating hope for more rewarding expenditures of money and especially TIME! I mean, what do we do all day, especially retirees. Watch TV, mindlessly cruise the internet feeds which are largely useless fear porn or worse, political porn which most of us are simply tuning out, stories of the coming war, coming plandemic, and on and on. Your vids give one purpose, sustenance for body and mind. Your mission on Planet Earth has never been needed more. THANK YOU! ❤️❤️❤️

It will be cool to see how long they can actually be grown out that way, or also, what would happen if you thinned them out to 1-2 plants per container

If those are supposed to be waterproof, I would be concerned with PFAS or plastic impregnated. If the waterproofing is from wax impregnation, I guess that would be safe.

Hi … I am looking for micro green trays as a newbie and liked your grow in glass episode. Can I ask where you bought the small glass bowls … it looks like you use plastic soft drink to cover. I like the idea of trimming a bowl that is easy to pick up vs a large tray.

Maybe you could paint the insides of cardboard boxes with wax, or used waxed paper to cover large areas and paint the edges down with melted wax?

I grew watercress in a 12x8 tray outside last summer. It took a while to establish but then once it did it really took off. That’s some super nutrient dense stuff!
