This video will give you 12 exercises that you can do for a great weighted vest workout. It includes lower & upper body as well as plyometrics. I will also give you some information about why weighted vests can be good for you and your workouts to build strength and stamina. These are great for athletes for intermediate to advanced exercisers wanting to challenge themselves without having to use overly heavy weights. You can do just a few of these exercises as part of your normal workout routine, pick one section to do for the day, or use them all as a circuit.
This particular vest is from ProSourceFit.com and it is 12 pounds, but you can get them from 6 to 20 lbs. The size is adjustable but the weight is not. Finally got my 30lb Pacearth vest. The same day, I walked a little over 10 miles. I love how much I was fatiguing because I know my strength endurance is going to grow.

Good video. Good ideas. Only body parts didn’t train I think was biceps but I suppose you could take the vest off and curl it with one hand or two? Great tips!!!

Thanks! And Agreed. You could use the vest if you had to to curl, or just find something heavy nearby to curl.

Great video! Thank you! The first thing I did before seeing your video was walking a gradual hill. I got a really good workout. Did that two days. My back and calves are slightly sore, but it’s all good!🙌

Loved the video. I have the Same vest (10kg). I have bicep injury so use this for a full body workout. But have been experiencing Lower back pain. Not sure if the vest is causing it. What Exercises should be avoided while wearing the vest, to prevent lower back pain ? Thanks

Yes, the added weight does have potential to hurt your back. Pay attention to how your back feels when you do each exercise, to know for you what causes pain. But generally I'd stay away from the jumping-type movements, planks, push-ups where it's putting more weight on your back. Also make sure to keep good posture and form, and maintain an engaged, tight core to help protect your low back from the added force from the weight. You might also try doing about half of your workout with the vest and half without so your strength can build slowly and adapt to the vest

Thnx for this video! Holly, I had hand surgery and can’t use my right hand for a couple of months. If I was doing squats and deadlifts with 30 pounds in my hands, would a 30 pound weight vest work or should I get a 20 pound one. I’m not sure if the weight feels lighter or heavier when worn as a vest. And I do have weak shoulders but my legs are used to 30 pounds.

You might want to look for an adjustable vest so you can start with 20 lbs so your back and shoulders can get used to it, then add 10 lbs since your legs can handle that weight. Or, if you get a 30lb vest, start with less reps or sets to help your upper body adapt and even take the vest off between sets until you’re used to the weight

You can….but it can be hard on your back, hips and shoulders. It also moves a bit so I find it uncomfortable. I would personally recommend focusing your running more on good form and speed and skip weighted vests unless it’s for something like a CrossFit competition. There are safer ways to build strength and endurance. If you do use one it should only be for short spurts

You mean will this cause you to gain weight? If used in conjunction with a proper weight gain diet, it can help you gain muscle. In conjunction with a proper weight loss diet it can help you to burn more calories and gain muscle. Depending on genetics, some people will gain muscle weight and size easier, and some will lose weight with a workout like this. But because there are no heavy weights being used, large amount of weight or muscle shouldn’t be expected

I used to use a MIR weighted vest years ago for treadmill work and lunges because I have balance issues with a barbell. But it really defined my body. It was great for all over muscle tone. 😊

How do I use vest and is it a good idea to use it everyday? Is it better to ise it on hitt workout days or should I use it on lifting days too and also on low intensity workout/rest days??

Details on how to use it are in the video. It all depends on your goals and why you’re using it. I would not use it in every workout - that could cause too much strain. 1-2 times per week is plenty.
