In this lesson, you will learn what an inverse function is and why inverse functions are useful in Math, Algebra, Calculus, and beyond. An inverse of a function is the function that does the opposite operation. Because of this, the inverse "undoes" what the original function calculates. This can be used to solve many types of equations, most notably exponential and logarithmic equations. The inverse function also has many uses in Calculus in the study of derivatives.

I am 65 now. If I had a math teacher like you at 15, my life story would have been different. Everyday I take time out, sit with a pen and paper, watch your video, take note like a high school/ college student and enrich myself. Thanks and respect 🙏🙏 from the bottom of my heart from India.

You are the best math teacher on KZbin. There are some great math teachers and courses out there, but for me, you are by far the best. The way you explain concepts and walk your student through the process is astounding. You're a very gifted teacher. I will be taking math courses up to Linear Algebra (starting from PreCal, Cal I-III, and then Linear Algebra) to enter a data science/analytics or applied statistics graduate program in roughly three years. I purchased a monthly subscription to your website and have found your videos to be the best. Thank you very much for everything you do.

This video on inverse functions is fascinating! Reminds me of what I've been doing with my rubies cube. I've discovered some pattern algorithms that undo themselves when repeated and combining them sequentially is exactly as you describe in inverse functions. I've been calling what I am doing solution processing. Calling it this makes more sense for accuracy. Oh one major pattern in using requires me to flip the cube prior to repeating the algorithm else I get a pattern one of three, requiring three time repeats.

Very good presentation. One tough part of teaching math is how many times things have to be repeated to get the concept to sink in. The only thing I would add is the bonus of where the graphs intersect and what that means.

I'm not totally sure when it will be posted at www.MathAndScience.com. It will be in unit 15 though - good guess. It takes a while to get all lessons from a unit ready and that is why you see things on youtube for free before seeing them in the members area. It will come to the members area, complete with worksheets and quizzes as well! Jason
