i doubt it tbh, i just think the meta isnt as developed or the skill ceiling being lowered finally caught up. the smash doc talks about how in the early scene if you were in the know and saw a person who you didn't at least have some familiarity with, like you never saw there name on smash docs, saw a match from them or heard about them from another player, there was basically a 100% they were worse then you and you could beat them handily, which is why some just played against randoms for a quick buck knowing there was that little of a contest. if something like that was possible prior to the meta developing and more and more people getting better then this game must not be able to be compared.
