TastemyAtrocity I really am an avid and longtime viewer of the Dr. Phil show. I’ve struggled/cringed in the past to reconcile that with the negative media reports such as ranch allegations, Shelly Duvall exploitation, etc. HOWEVER, no one ever seems to leave his show without help of some sort. Dr. Phil may not have been able to cure this mother’s coldness or problems but in 60 minutes, he did prevent a child from hating herself, harming herself, and becoming another perpetrator in the cycle of abuse. I hope the Dr. Phil show can evolve over time to not invite such awful allocations. Honestly, I’ve read 2 of his books and have watched the show for years and while I don’t always agree with it, he has changed many lives for the better

i've been sifting through a bit of the comments in this video, and all i can say for everyone who can't believe that a 12 year old wrote this is: the internet age causes kids to grow up fast enough as-is. for this girl, not only did she get hamfucked by the 'net and all the content on it most likely, but she has been dealt an even worse starting point in life with her family. as someone in a THANKFULLY toned-down version of this scenario right now at 12, it's believable that this is unedited. maybe it's dramatized, but it really is plausible that this is unedited, which chips away at my soul. i truly pray and support this girl, she deserves all the help she can get.

So "Amy" says they were both in treatment because they were addicts "in the past". If you WERE an addict but no longer are on drugs, you don't need Methadone and/or treatment. You only need them when you are trying to kick the habit. By the fathers antics just in this tiny clip, you can tell he is on something.

since the internet age :/ - i don't think many people realize how fast you can grow up and be a mental adult. i guess it makes sense, there's very few places i can let down my guard as some mental adult in a 12 year old's body. i dunno why i even trust these comments, i suppose y'all just seem...supportive somehow? i have it better than this girl - at least my mom is OK - and i still have been forced to let go of my childhood a bit too fast for many people's tastes. it's... interesting seeing people consider a child an older teenager or even an adult. so yeah, i would say that this girl has a very real chance of actually having written this letter. perhaps it was dramatized a bit, but i would believe dr. phil's word if he said that this was completely unedited. this was written in 2016, it is definitely plausible to me being in a toned-down version of this situation -right now-.

man. i really wish i could get help from dr.phil or really just anyone who has a neutral view of the situation. my childhood was taken away at the age of 10, i had to start cooking and cleaning for my little brother and myself, it got better when i was 11, but as soon as i turned 12 it was the worst at rhat point, im now 14 and it has gotten increasingly worst. I have been pressured into several illegal things and i now have a total of three full blown addictions. I really need to escape. They started treating my brother like royalty, they would actually have me specifically cook for him. He has so many expansive things, and none of them are a necessary. All while i sit over in the corner with every election i own i have paid for with my own money. I had to buy myself a laptop for school, i was saving up to get out of this home asap, but all of that savings is now gone, and because of covid i lost my job. im in a tricky situation and im at the point where i feel like a sack of useless flesh
