Ironically, this has happened to me before. I was leaving Vegas, and TSA found a couple bullets in my carry-on bag.
The agents took the bullets and told me to be on my way.
This happened in America, where the people have the Second Amendment, and firearm ownership is extremely normal here, so it was no big deal.
But we tend to forget how unique our 2A Freedom is in this country.
Let's not fool ourselves. They're trying to make an example out of these people. It's clear as day that this was an accident.
In the United States, bullets found in security usually lead to a fine.
However, in Turks and Caicos, legislators approved a measure instituting a minimum 12-year prison term for individuals apprehended for transporting firearms or ammunition to the islands.
Recently, the U.S. government issued a cautionary advisory to tourists planning to visit the islands.
“Carefully check your luggage for stray ammunition or forgotten weapons before departing from the United States. If you bring a firearm or ammunition into TCI, even inadvertently, we will not be able to secure your release from custody,” the U.S. Embassy in Nassau warned.

I just got patted and searched because of a scanner error the other day. Of course I had no metal or anything on me. Apparently I read this happens all the time as their scanners are very inaccurate and can't seem to figure out the difference between pants and a gun. But yet when people bring actual bullets on board, this is missed? Clearly the results of another useless government organization.

@@something568 then we should call a spade a spade and officially label countries and territories based on incidents like this and How likely an American is to get in trouble based on how different their laws and punishments are, and it would have to be as objective and serious as possible. For example, if a place had thought crime laws on the book such as the ones recently enacted in Scotland, it would be a good idea for that to be very upfront information for any American traveling there, same thing for if a place has such strict gun laws that even pieces of lead and copper in a bullet like shape and even empty casings are punishable with years of prison time. Travelers should be warned that even honest mistakes can and will be treated extremely severely, and maybe those places will catch on that if they want to maintain their tourism-based economies they shouldn't be so draconian. I've been on a jury before and have seen our justice system in action, and I fully believe that it works, and that if what you did was genuinely an honest mistake and there was no harm done then the courts are generally in your favor, and we should judge other countries and territories that do not operate that way accordingly

I recently flew with firearms and did so successfully because of this channel. Don’t worry about double checking your luggage to see if you packed all your toiletries, but quadruple check to make sure you’re not missing details that makes your lawful firearm transport into an illegal one. On the way back I had a pucker moment when TSA said come with me. They scanned my luggage that contained the firearm and asked what they were going to see is what they’re expecting to see. That’s when I started replaying in my mind of what and how it’s packed. In the end they said thanks, have a safe flight. For a minute though I was kinda sweating it.😂

I myself have been guilty of this, twice. Once, on a business trip to South Carolina with my wife, I couldn't find my small carry-on bag. Turns out our son had grabbed it out of the hall closet to pack his clothes and toys in to stay at his Grandmother's while we were out of town, and I didn't know he'd taken it. I ended up using my range bag instead. Never thought to check it, and got tagged at Cincy Intermational with 2 9mm rounds down in the bottom. Nothing came of it, but I did have to leave them with security before boarding. The security guy laughed and just told me to double check in the future, as ammo is expensive. Second time was on a trip to Alabama to go hunting with a friend that lives down there, and I'd been rushing to pack as I was late, and threw my range bag (it's an old gym-bag I've had for about forever) into my luggage thinking I might need it. Didn't think to check it, and got lucky as nothing was in it. So far, I'm 0-1 and hope to stay that way.

He would fly himself cross country for vacations and business trips (I would co pilot as often as I could). It was pretty common that he would have to leave his plane somewhere and fly home commercial because of bad weather. Well one time when this happened he went to the airport check in fully strapped, carrying in his waste-band and in his carry on. As he was in line he realized what he was doing and stepped out of line, he found a cop and sheepishly told him he had 2 guns on him and all his ammo for both and explained why he had them and why he was there and simply didn’t think about them lol. The cop brought him to one of their back rooms and helped him secure the guns and package them up to ship them back home so he could get on his commercial flight to get home. Not accurate about UK gun laws. Semi auto .22 rifles are allowed as are semi-auto shotguns, (restricted to 3 shells on a shotgun licence but unlimited mag capacity on a Firearms licence). Handguns are allowed for pistol club members but they must have minimum 30 cm barrels if full bore revolvers or .22 Semi auto pistols. Both must have a thin counterweight fitted to the handgrip to bring the overall length up to 60 cm. Muzzle loading black powder (or synthetic powder) revolvers can be any barrel length as long as it is for club shooting. Land owners can have 2 shot handguns of any barrel length for humane dispatch or vermin control, such as 3 inch Bond Arms derringer. Moderators are a "shall issue" on any requested firearm including shotguns at no extra cost and fully moderated Mossberg pumps in 410, 20 and 12 are |"off the shelf" at most large gun stores and have been for over 50 years. Now you know.
