120+ km Trip & Return EV Commercial Fleet Trial Van

A 120 km Trip to film a concert with virtuoso pianist David Syme in the Peugeot e-Partner from the SEAI EV Commercial Fleet Trial. Charged over night for the first leg and High Power charge for the return, this journey played much more to the strengths of van delivering the two of us in comfort at a good pace over mostly rural roads with a final sprint into the city off the ring road.

So, a one way trip is about 10 euros, which is actually about the same as my diesel car. The EV advantage is purely environmental, and you need to charge a lot. I guess by the time I have an electric vehicle things will be better. Thanks for the video.

That’s right Richie, the public charging costs are now very comparable to fueling a good diesel. For people who have missed the free and cheap era of public charging I’d recommend the best way to invest the value of a new EV would be €10,000 on domestic solar which should pay for itself in 5-7 years and put €5000 to €10,000 into a secondhand EV as soon as they can and enjoy virtually free local driving while keeping what they have for long journeys. In 10 years time then they’ll be making big savings on their electricity and have great choice in the secondhand market.

@@VantagePointVideoGarage indeed, that makes sense, charging with electricity you generate yourself is great. Who knows how the energy you receive at a "pump" is generated, fossil fuels maybe...
