My second reasonably long trip in the 50kWh Peugeot E Partner that I have on loan as part of the SEAI EV Commercial Fleet Trial was 300km to a motor racing hillclimb in Ballyvaughan Co. Clare from Castletownbere, West Cork. This was the first round of the Irish Hillclimb & Sprint Championship. I didn't get held up with any charity cycles like I did on my first long trip to West Meath. I took the approach of driving to the speed limit on 80 and 100km single lane roads but after skipping a charge I drove at 90km on the dual carriageways to save a bit of range. I call this truck speed as 90km is a shade faster than they go in the left lane so I don't force any HGV's to over take and I can let off the rest of the traffic. The result was a little surprising as this actually saved me time on the overall journey due to saved charging time and has given me ideas for the best approach on longer journeys in this vehicle.
