Always entertaining but hard to take Sergio serious Hasn’t done the Olympia in 6 years, turning 40, has trained with everyone but still trying to figure things out 🤷🏻♂️ “Let me change my environment” that should do it Moves to San Diego, moves to Dubai… The whole moving to Spain training with Dorian is grasping at straws trying to find some outside motivating factor to continue competing but none of it seems to be sustainable for him. All the signs point to… his passion for competing has waned and he doesnt know what to do with himself. He feels he HAS TO compete Can he still win a pro show? YES of course But beyond that his time has passed as far as winning a major title

Does not sound like he is taking responsibility for his lack of success. Just looking for someone to give him a contract for sub par performance or even competing often enough. A pro needs to be showing up in their best shape and competing unless they are actually hurt. Like a Nick Walker hamstring issue.... That was a real excuse for not competing. Nick then came back and won the NY Pro!

I don’t see him progressing any further in the sport competitively as he just doesn’t have the mental edge that the very best have which allows them to reach the type. No disrespect.. just would like to see him succeed and be happy without having to feel compelled to always explain why things don’t work it for him . He’s better than that in the scheme of things .

Sergio Sr mistakenly said in an interview that Jones trained him for the 72 Olympia. That is incorrect. Jones trained Sergio for the 1971 NABBA Pro Mr Universe which he lost to Bill Pearl. This was well publicized in the magazines at the time, leading up to the NABBA competition. Ellington Darden who worked with Jones has confirmed that Sergio trained with Jones in Deland Florida leading up to the 71 NABBA Pro Universe, but Sergio was not in Florida leading up to the 72 Olympia and Jones did not train him for that contest. I started following bodybuilding at that time so I saw the order of events as they took place.

As the son of a “successful” bodybuilder from the classic era, I’m a fan of Sergio’s underdog persona and trying to prove himself. I also understand and clearly see him “getting in his own way” …addicted to his own cloud of chaos. It’s clear as day (even when interacting with Jay), he needs to SHUT UP, LISTEN, LEARN and FOLLOW THROUGH with the EXACT instructions of those trying to help or are hired to help. He was looking INSANE while under Dorian’s watch…most of us would kill for that opportunity. Hope he realizes soon that “his way” is not working.

you maybe right. The same can be said about the great Flex Wheeler, Paul Dillett, Chris Cormier, Lionel Beyeke and even the late great and beloved Cedric McMillan (RIP). Flex cheated a lot on his prep. Chris partied too much. Dillett never really suffered. His conditioning was his Achilles heel was his conditioning or lack of. The same for Lionel Beyeke. Cedric had allegedly anxiety issues and it affected his conditioning at O. I still have hope for Cedric. I don’t want to make excuses for the man. Sergio Oliva Jr equals the chaos theory. Still making the same mistakes as a 22 year old. Doesn't he know that most of the most successful sportspeople have calm almost boring lifestyles. Too much drama. He sounds damaged with unresolved daddy issues. He lacks tunnel vision and the ability to compartmentalize aspects of his life. He talks about Dorian. Didn't he know that Dorian would close his gym for customers and train alone in the morning /lunchtime with his partner to avoid distractions? Then sometimes during the afternoon/evening his gym would be closed and we would have to find a different gym to train at.

Serio is 1000% right aint no bodybuilders doing well that are kot doing well mentally. Just no matter how hard you try your body will not respond like you want it too when you're stressed out, depressed or anything like that. Why guys like Stephan, Hany or Niel for that matter are all soo good coaches is cus they're more mental coaches than anything.

To get a visa in Spain as a non Eu passport holder you need 30k in your account or have a 8hr full time contract. Not so hard if you have those two things
