Update for Social Security recipients: You do not need to file or take action. Social security recipients will automatically get $1200 payments directly to their bank account. The IRS will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 or Form RRB-1099 to generate Economic Impact Payments to recipients of benefits reflected in the Form SSA-1099 or Form RRB-1099 who are not required to file a tax return and did not file a return for 2018 or 2019. This includes senior citizens, Social Security recipients and railroad retirees who are not otherwise required to file a tax return.

Jim Braun, yes you qualify if you are on social security. You should go on the IRS website and file using turbo tax. Its free. Just have the 1099 paper in front of you so you can answer the questions. (It will tell you what line its on). I just did it last week. It was easy to do. I also heard (but not sure if its correct) that if you are on SS you dont have to file. I filed just to make sure.

Since my original comment; the IRS has stated they will be adding a portal on their (IRS.gov) web site to submit banking info. They are being vague about a timeline. I did read a report that they hope to start on April 13th, and have "most" people paid by the 17th. That's IF they have your banking info.

CPA here. If you're over 16 and *qualified" to be a dependent (meaning even if you weren't claimed as one by your parents but "qualified" as one), then unfortunately you will not receive any check, nor will your parents receive the $500.

I own several small apartment buildings. Several years ago, I received a head injury that took 3 years for my brain to get back to Normal. I'm now trying to pick up where I left off but my tenants have not paid rent for several months and with this Pandemic, My eviction procedures will not take place until Sept 2020 because of this stimulus package. In cases like mine, will there be a hardship check for me?

What if they have my 2017 taxes info and nothing has changed. Can they still use that info for the check?

If you haven't filed 2018 nor 2019 taxes, they will use your social security statement as reference. I don't think they will go back to 2017 though.

@@Margins you can file 2019 taxes even if you report that you made nothing.

PLEASE! Answer this for me, we haven't filed returns for years as we get little, and owe nothing, can we file now, and get the check in a timely fashion, or will the check come next year 2020 when taxes are filed again? This affects our lives a lot, and I need to know ASAP what our options are. I will file in any case from now on, what a mess.

Yes, I saw that. We do have W2's, but just haven't filed a return in the last 5 years or more. We would get little back, and owe nothing so didn't bother. We just need to file to get the stimulus check to help with bills, etc. Not sure if we can file online due to not having filed for so long? And, will we get the check if we do file now? I think we will from what I've read, but who knows?

That's what I'm talking about!😊 I've been sleeping on a hard old mattress someone gave me 3 yrs ago. I'm disabled and it doesn't help to have an uncomfortable mattress. I just want a decent priced comfy soft pillow top. I've never in my life had a nice new mattress one so it will be very very nice to finally get a good night's rest! 🙏

2020 taxes arent due until 2021. Thier looking at 2018 if you have not filled 2019 yet. But it you filled 2019 they look at 2019

If you are wise enough to watch sebby’s videos (I believe he gives sound, solid advice!), save this stimulus money for a rainy day unless you need it for this challenging time. Don’t just go out and buy a new iPhone! (Also, side note, when warren buy’s stock, he always gets a special deal set up. For example, years ago, he spent more than the stock price on Goldman, but, got special terms)
