Mercedes Technician here, if you press the push to start without your foot on the brake, accessory power mode, then hold the shifter down for 5 seconds it will shift into neutral. I had to do this a lot when the GT models first came out. Hope you see this and remember it for the future (fingers crossed you won't ever need to) Mike!

Did some digging about a tow mode for the AMG, found this: "In the case of power failure, the transmission selector lever can be manually unlocked to tow the vehicle. Depending on production date, your vehicle is equipped with cup holders in either the center console or in the center armrest. Open the storage compartment on the center console. Take out the cup holder. Hold the cover at a 45 degree angle. Insert a suitable object like a pin through the hole and press the pin downward. Remove pin.The selector lever is locked again when moving it to position P." Hope it helps

You can manually override the electrically locked P without starting the car to go into N. I remember a few ways I’ve used on various models in the past by either: 1. Quickly tapping/shifting into N twice with the brake pedal down -or- 2. Shifting and holding down into N for 5 seconds -or- 3. Putting the bladed key insert into a slot somewhere in the center armrest/compartment (this might be for BMW but can’t remember at the moment l). I think the different methods depend on where the gear selector is (steering column or center) and/or if there’s an armrest/compartment. Should then go into Neutral while activating the Parking Brake.

Somewhere so you can strap it down which will hold it in place and then the tow truck can drive forward and it will be pulled off the flatbed. Could be a very cheap and easy fix to deal with this problem.

You’re not alone Mike 😂 I bought a 2016 Merc AMG GTS, drove it for 16 hours before having a check engine light and tcu fault. Had the transmission rebuilt, taken two months. Hopefully getting the car back on Tuesday. I feel your pain brother 😂 hasn’t got a built engine line yours, but the downpipes, blow off valve and sound track make it all worth it 🙏🏼 Hope to see this beast back on the road soon!

The difference between a race car drifter / fabricator and mechanic. To not figure out wether the engine you've just had built for more power, can handle the stock transmission before ripping around in it, is rookie mistake !!

Maybe pick it is from the rear with one of those trailer dolly things or grap it from the rear and ratchet strap that steering well. Putting a stock trans back in is a waste of money. Needs a mild build at minimum.
