doing how to videos wont hurt you like you think, by all means there are cards we all keep close to our chest, those hard earned solutions, but general how-to's wont hurt you, indeed showing how meticulous and thorough you are in routine stuff may even help you or give a potential customer confidence in you over another shop. FWIW I own my own shop, 90% of my work is problems for other shops, I specialise in the nightmare jobs, so I appreciate when you want to keep your knowledge, but I also appreciate the advantage in others knowing what I can do :)

How about being second guessed by every keyboard warrior that knows how to type glow plug? Whenever anyone says to jump over a puddle, 10 others say walk around it and another 10 say build a bridge over it and you guessed it, 10 more say to tunnel under it. I get what you mean, but how to videos catch a tremendous amount of heat. It's like the stupid Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge rants.

Dont be scared to show off your diesel talents bud. If anything you'll gain more customers who see what you are capable of doing than you will lose out on because they decided to do it themselves. A person can already google or KZbin just about any information they need on fixing/repairing vehicles and so a person planning on doing something there self is gonna do it regardless. Good luck love seeing you share your passion and knowledge and keep it up.

A shiney black (super glossy) would pop against the flat black of the engine bay. And look classy AF. . . These videos have shown me you care about your work environment. Far different than Kyle's or Haden's. Everything is clean and not cluttered. Love your videos!

I’m glad there’s some folks doing diesel how to videos, I did a head gasket job on my lb7 a couple months ago not knowing anything but it went ok. The shops around here wanted $6000-$7000 and my truck wasn’t worth much more than that.

I am so glad I can have other people do all the work on my cars these days. It was so much easier in the 70s-80s to work on my cars. The main reason is because I was 30-40 years younger! And everything wasn’t run with computers or electronics. But it is fun to watch you guys doing it. Never had a chance to work on Diesel engines they were only in big trucks back in those days. Will be watching your build to completion. Had a 70 C10 4x4 in the late 70s so this build interests me more than most. Keep up the great work!

I did the same thing when I forgot to install my cam gear lol. Had that "fuckin ay" moment as well but I sneaked it in as well! No backtracking haha. As far as painting the front/rear covers... You literally won't even see them as soon as the engine is fully assembled and in the truck. If anything just have the outermost parts that are more exposed powdered/painted, if you ask me! Valve covers, accessory brackets, coolant crossover, piping, etc.

If you are painting the engine black and the truck the original orange or some color lose perhaps a good color for engine brackets that will look good over time would be Pewter, cast iron Silver (like a brand new Cast Iron Skilllet) or the silver that was used on 68/69 Camaro’s. My thought is Silver even as it weathered and got a little dirty would still look good.

I prefer polished metal over paint. Gloss white would contrast nicely to the black and orange. White is hard to keep clean, but it also points out leaks if any. When clean, it just looks cleaner by nature.
