Marc, looking at the comments here, I see appreciation, encouragement, and gratitude. Trolls are the sad part of humanity, that live in our digital world. They will always be here, but do what most of us do….ignore them. Remember, trolls like no one and no one likes trolls. I believe I can speak for most here when I say, that all the efforts, to include us in your travels, is very much appreciated. Oh, and Happy Birthday!

I just can't believe how there can be haters to a travel vlog like this. What's wrong with people? I really love to watch you travel and inpire people to do the same. So people go for a trip, long or short, with bike or car. It doesnt matter as long as they enjoy life. Keep up the good work and let us be a part of your traveling. I really hope you get a great hug when coming home. And a good meal and a nice comfy bed. All my best wishes.

Marc, happy birthday! I hope you have a great day! As someone who also likes to ride long distances on my motorcycle, many people don’t understand what it’s like. You do what you do for yourself. As long as you are enjoying yourself, that’s all that matters. Thanks for your videos, they are very inspirational. I ride in North America and it’s really interesting to watch your rides through Europe. One day I hope to ride through Europe as well. Thanks for all the great videos! Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag!

As an old co-worker used to say “don’t let the b*st*rds get you down”. Words to live by. I love your content and you were part of my inspiration to ride 13000 kms round trip this summer on my F850GS at age 63. It wasn’t a total success as I wrote off my bike in Canada’s arctic, but it’s a trip I’ll never forget. Thanks and stay safe.

Awesome vlog! Awesome bike! I had the same kind of noise on all my Hondas. From 1978 - 1989, CB125, CB250 Dream, CB 250 Superdream, CX 500E. Chain tensioner either well worn and/or collecting lots of thick, sticky gunge which prevented it moving with the timing chain - which also could get a tight spot. All those bikes did over 50,00k before I sold them. Shame I never owned a Dominator. Thanks for sharing! :-)

I feel sorry for you about the negative comments. I work exactly the same: 1) Negative input stays longer and 2) if my bike makes a noise I obsess about it until I fix it. 1) makes you human. 2) makes you the kind of biker who has the persistence to weed out the flaws of an old bike and that is the best kind of biker.
@Da_Raven2 жыл бұрын
Try not to take comments personally, criticism is one way to better one, without it, ego might creep in and one would be deceived into feeling invincible: fatal to self and personality. keep up the good work man, you inspire millions and me, and you provoke some :) joining you , ,hopefully December, on a trip in Africa, Egypt to South Africa for starters. Hi Mark! I found your channel a couple weeks ago. Honestly have seen the journeys in your playlist. Almost all of them: Scandinavia, Pyrenees, Balkans, Alps... The list goes on. All the parts like one big movie created by one German easy rider. Of course, there are many other travelers who film and upload their videos on KZbin. They are good in their own way. Your videos take with simplicity and plainness. They are soulful. There is something in them. Also I very liked when you refused the offer of Insta team riding back home. Well... Thanks for a good and inspiring content, man. You made my dreams true. A while ago I rode my Honda Transalp 650 and dreamt about long travels. Some of them I realized. But now... All is gone. Greetings from warring Ukraine. 👍

Marc, not sure what I can say about the people who are jealous of you and that you've got a great life and people that care about you. It's easy for me or others out here to just say to ignore them, but I'm sure it's not that easy. From a selfish standpoint, I'd like it if you kept the comments, but you do what's right for you. In the end, you're all that matters, we're just along for the ride. Cheers, and have a great time with Maree and looking forward to your next adventure.

I have the same engine on my motorcycle and had a similar rattle after the bike was warmed up and ridden awhile. The problem ended up being that the timing chain was the correct length when cold but when it warmed up it would rattle intermittently. If you replace the timing chain it is a good idea to also replace the tensioner, slider and both sprockets. My bike had 20,000 miles on it when I had to do this work. Also remember that you can only check the valve clearance on this engine after the engine has cooled for 24 hours. If you check them while the engine is even slightly warm it will not be correct. Good luck!!!

Hey Marc, great video as always. I just got my '98 NX650 back (after a year) from the mechanic and despite much work done it came out with the dreaded clicking, permanently, which it didn't have when it went in. It really, really sucks, but I've basically been told that the engine is old and hammered, and that while the noise is annoying, it's not causing any harm. I can't afford to throw any more money at the problem, and the bike had a pretty rough life before I got her, but It's still an awesome bike and if I wear earplugs I can't hear the clicks, so I guess that's my solution! I sincerely hope you find a better one, your bike is in much better shape than mine - long live the Dom, there's nothing else quite like it.

To solve the problem of rattling noise, try tapping around the engine, with the engine off. Start with the exhaust pipe and anything that is attached to the engine, like the gear changing lever, the rear brake lever, and so on. Even the air intake housing. Good luck.

hey Marc, I am also a motorcycle traveller like you, since I was a teen ager (which is long ago). This year I made a tour to Spain, 3000 km, and a tour in US, 5000 miles. Inspired by your winter trip to Portugal, I thought for a split second of making a channel of my own. However, I thought and thought ... about the exposure, the haters, those who know all and want to teach their infinte experience, and maybe they are sitting in their chair watching TV. So eventually "I did my own thing" - just like you basically, riding on my own, but with no drone. I may write a book - as I did a few years ago based on a US trip form the MidWest to California. Take care - and keep going the same way you re going now.
