agreed, most artful 🌬 but I'm worried ! We know there are HUGE winter storms, great winds, and major (heavy) snow-fall events in the area. 🏔 Sorry if this has already been discussed, but how will y'all protect the new greenhouse ? 🥶Is there to be some sort of winterisation - partial dismantling, windbreaks, wood-covering the glass etc ? ❄- I guess there's good reason why the ancestors chose to build their mountain shelters in heavy, durable stone.

@@rickmcdixon2675 I,ve lived in the alps all my life (1.600 m) and I've noticed that the glasses Martijn mount have a good thickness and considering the long time he wait for receiving it I can imagine he had ordered anti-crash model. The poles are in the ground and is really difficult that a winter storm or a wind storm can destroy them. The most fragile parts are the windows he uses for the side areas, but only for the glasses mounted that are for civilians homes and not for a greenhouse use. The maximum that can happen is that one or two of that glasses can break with a very limited damage that will be really fast solved

My dad built a Greenhouse years ago.. he grew all kinds of stuff in it. In the winter he would sit in it on cold days. As long as it was sunny it was warm in there.. I remember the great earthy smell in it.. He passed in 2006.

Makelaars are usually seen in Nordic fishing towns as the word means to tie the roof together. It is the sign of hope, faith, and love. Other parts of the world use different symbols and religious signs, from the tortoise to whales or little Buddhas. The greenhouse became beautiful. It is quite the rainy season, eh. Colder than usual and so much rain.

The decorative elements often found at the top of gables or the ends of roof ridges on buildings, the term “makelaars”, we would call these "gable finials" or "gable decorations/gable ornaments", “roof finals/roof ornaments”, sometimes also referred to as “gable spires”. Bike helmets do, at times, double as an umbrella. I see you made it work. Greenhouse looks beautiful. We call them finials in English. Chickens are looking healthy and well. Glad things are going well for you. Just FYI in 'new soil' (engineered soil in a raised bed) it is ALWAYS a rough first year of growing. Sometimes a little Mycorrhizal fungi can really help because regular soil already has a complex web of life in it that has been established for thousands, if not millions of years. Anytime I plant something out or have 'new soil' I dust it with Mycorrhizal to help establish the web of life and bring living soil to the plants. Plants actually don't 'eat fertilizer' they eat the chemical byproducts of the web of life operating in the soil.
