Somehow video #80 appeared again on my KZbin feed this morning. I’m all caught up on the videos but going back in time to watch this one again was still worthwhile. There are many things I have forgotten, so it’s nice to have them while I await the latest one tomorrow morning. 😊

19:00 protip for pulling cables. Take a rope and attach small piece of plastic bag to it which fits the pipe, insert the rope with the plastic bag from one end of the pipe and suck with a vacuum cleaner from the other end, the rope is instantly pulled through the pipe and then you use the rope to pull the cable through the pipe. Distance doesn't matter, can be used to pull the rope for hundreds of meters.

It might be a bit late in the day for this, but you can put a back bevel on thicker pieces that you want to scribe and then you're only dealing with a thin part on one edge. - Much less back and forth. Hope you're well!

I love the rustic look of this house? Where in Italy is it located? I live in the region Marche. The flower box looks match perfect with the house because you have used old, at least, rustic wood.

Hi Martijn! Yet another beautiful upload. Forgive me if I missed this in the video, but I thought I’d recommend that your firepit needs holes or little gaps inbetween the stones in order for oxygen to make it to the bottom of the cylinder. It makes for a better and a safer fire and it will reduce the probability of all of your hard mortar work cracking or exploding in the future! Just like drainage in the flower bed.

If one had to survive and provide for a family, perhaps a large family, imagine how hard life must have been. This thought is no slight on Martijn's work and independent-mindedness, which I admire greatly. Thank you for such beautiful and tranquil footage.

Well, Martijn, I knew you were a multi-talented man, but I would have never guessed you could start a raging fire with the clap of your hands! Very nice😁 As far as your shed, isn’t one of your brothers a craftsman? Maybe something could be worked out with him? Just a thought. You’ve probably already discussed the shed plans with him, I’d guess. Took ma awhile to get to your video this week. Been working as a sparehand at a PaperMill. Lots of mixed up hours. But I will always make sure I do not miss a single upload. 🙂 How on earth do you drive on those small mountain roads and fly a drone at the same time? Are you hiding a camera person somewhere at your cabin? 😂

Are there any good arguments for why one shouldn't be able to build a shed off-grid without having to be a craftsman?

Regarding your building and zoning codes, it makes me ever so glad that I chose to move to Sweden. At least in the US, most codes allow a person to do their own work, even new construction, without being a professional builder. You would have to provide engineered drawings for most anything, but at least you can do the work as long as you call for and have inspections as required and that those inspections pass. If they do not, you have to fix the errors. But to deny a person categorically, the right to create one's own abode, seems very backwards to me. Sweden allows for people to be responsible for their own well being and the system is designed to allow people to learn and prove themselves. I have always felt that a few sound principles to guide your life are much better than volumes and volumes of rule.......which will inevitably conflict and inhibit growth rather than foster growth, self expression and creativity. I am sorry to hear that there is no way to prove your skill and value to the community. Maybe you should find a contractor who is a one man show and have him hire you.
