@ibrahimmohiuddin41908 жыл бұрын
MrGridPixel true but it's so dam common now not really unique like 80% of 86s at meets (in Seattle at least) and I feel like it's more form over function. This looks nice and clean imo
@STIFOUREVER8 жыл бұрын
Ibrahim Mohiuddin it maybe 80% of 86's in Seattle with that body kit but 0.5% chance of the same motor set up.
@_SKDK_7 жыл бұрын
I'm all for it if it's functional. Unlike the ricers that demenish it by putting on a hard park car. Then they use massive spacers instead of wider wheels and never do any performance driving to justify the body kit lol. By ricers I mean R.I.C.E. = Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. I.e. Cars that look fast or have race oriented parts like wings and loud exhausts but are practically factory.

Thats a myth. Probably went that way because he had an expensive ported/polished 1jz head laying around from a 1jz engine. Lots of 1jz guys keep it if they already had headwork done on their previous 1jzgte engine, but want more displacement so they go 2jz block.

Looking around and I havent found very many reasons for the 1J head on the 2J block, apart from if you already have a 1J and go for the larger bore block. Any reasoning behind his head choice? Some are saying it may flow better but no actual evidence
@ThatRacingChannel8 жыл бұрын
I have also see some controversial evidence. Some say it does flow better, some say it doesn't. However, from personal experience, it's very very hard to find a "virgin" 2JZGTE head on the market, so this could be a reason is that it is easier to find a 1J head in case he hurts this one (stuff happens when you make big power).

But how does the engine swap affect the performance, I wonder. As in the steering and holding. The way the FA20 was designed was with performance in mind, that the energy kept the car feeling planted to the road thanks to the boxer engine. So how does the 2JZ feel? Does it change the over all feel of the car? I'd expect so but would love to hear thoughts and feelings.

@adolfshitler83417 жыл бұрын
I'd put that engine in an ae86, mx5 or supra. Brz/86s are supposed to have super low centre of gravity, hence the boxer engine, the top of the actual block is lower than the top of the wheels, making it a beast at cornering at high speed. Yeah it's still got that cornering chassis but inlines are so top heavy

It really seems like the 2jz swap is overdone, but it must be for good reason. So many people make huge power with them and I hear they are rock solid. Same with an ls. My opinion is still that if you remove a car's engine the car is no longer. To me this is no longer an frs, but it is that man's unique creation. Sounds great at wide open throttle but terrible at regular rpms. Probably because of the huge clutch he must be running I can't imagine using a clutch like that regularly
