Another helpful thing I have found is breaking down the cardboard, making it flat and storing it sideways to save space. I put it in a plastic bin. Then, I toss it in the garden to cover patches of weeds, and cover it with dirt. I have even left it uncovered, behind hedges you can’t see from the street, and. It covered it. A little messy, but no weeds is a real plus whatever it looks like.

I make my own seed starting mix and potting mix. It saves me a fortune and works well. I sieve all my old compost from my containers-dry it-sieve it-bag it. I use perlite and coir and it gives a light airy mix ideal for seedlings 😊😊

I am constantly amazed how much food you can keep in that little fridge. It is like Mary Poppins carpet bag. Lol. You have busy days ahead planting all those seeds. You are well on your way with a find looking wheel barrow and all those different soils. Tally Ho Sean. Love that name Grease Lightening for your barrow. Perfect!

A very sweet wheel barrel. The back garden looked peaceful with the little kitty sitting by the door. Great music, thank you for playing it. 🎶 Good luck with your informal competition. Best wishes and blessings for a happy, cozy September (almost equinox).

Here's hoping the weather is better tomorrow. I once had some seed sowing trays like those. They were quite flimsy once the compost was in. Luckily we had plenty of seed trays knocking about and they fitted in made it easier to carry them. But we learnt our lesson and didn't get any more of that type 😅😊

As a senior gardener, my wheelbarrow is very important to me. I throw heavy things is there and I don’t want to fight balancing it, so I have two wheels at the front. They used to make it with four wheels, but two will do. One wheel in the front just doesn’t work for me. The wheels are plastic, and I was also given a metal wheelbarrow, with much lower sides and with two pneumatic wheels on the sides, which needs air, about twice a year, but no problem. Also very good for balancing. Lower sides allow for tossing in heavy bags without lifting them too far up. Much good luck with the one you bought and the seedlings.

I use the plug pots like you bought...I've saved mine from plant purchases and wash them thouroughly between uses. I don't leave them in sunlight for storage, or out in the freezing cold and get several seasons of use from them before they start breaking up. On the wheel barrow, smaller is better (IMO) because they not only take up less space to store, they are lighter and more manuverable than a deep one that one may find, when filled, is impossible to push. The oil coating is to protect the finish until use. I loved seeing the bag of Miracle Grow! Here in the States what you call 'compost' we call 'potting soil'!

Try to keep your red wines in a cool, dark place (about 13 degrees c is ideal) until you are ready to use it. It's best stored horizontally. Bring it out to warm up to room temperature when you are ready to drink it. It will deteriorate if kept out in a warm, sunny, room. £12 for a bag of compost that size is expensive but if you have no means of transporting it I suppose you have to pay extra. Would you be able to get some delivered from the allotment society? Do you have any access to straw to put on top of your potatoes? I assume you will be earthing them up so only the tips of the leaves are showing?

A small van or car would be ideal for transporting all your wares to the homestead especially when we have bad weather. Autumn is here dark depressing days and being able to get out and about is a must when you live alone in the Valleys. Rheola market on a saturday is a great place for second hand tools and has a meat van. I love a wander around.❤

No frost yet here though it’s been below 50F recently at night so it’s on its way. I’m down to the fading sunchokes that may or may not have produced tubers, and a purple sweet potato vine that seems to be surviving despite all. Here’s hoping that produces. I harvested my turnips and got about a half dozen in total this season. I’ll do better next year. I planted too many and too close so I had to cull a lot with nowhere else for them to go. “We plan our garden while it snows.” - the Solstice Song by Molly and the Tinker. (I don’t expect anyone to get this reference.) Today though is vehicle repair - I get to replace a radiator. Yay. -_-

Your one looked a really good one. Good price too. 🙂👍🏻 Well I got my flower bulbs in the other day at that point the soil was still a bit hard even though we'd had some rain but as luck would have it, it rained a lot the next day and yesterday so the water butts should be looking a lot better now! Bulbs will do well in pots, the bulbs have to be twice the depth of their size but they will freeze quicker when the weather drops so don't go for too big a pot incase you need to move them to shelter. The bulbs can also be put directly into the ground which is what I do.

Suggestion if those pots aren't that strong then put 2 of them in a seed tray. Keeps them together, but then you prob know that already 🤷‍♀️

At least the wheelbarrow is metal. We have a lot of crap plastic ones sold in home stores near me. I actually use a little metal one that was my dad's from the 70s.
