I had the priveledge of hearing her in concert a couple of times back in the early 80s. A wonderful singer and a lovely person. During that time she was a regular on Prairie Home Companion.

Thank you so much for posting this lovely song. Jean has been a long time favorite of mine. The song itself brings back such wonderful memories of my mother humming it as she went about her daily tasks. Such wonderful memories roused by this lovely song as sung by one of Scotland's finest singers. Thank you again, Ian.

Ian Anderson I've found it very hard to watch films about Mary, Queen of the Scots. I know too much about what happened to her. Three blows to the neck before the executioner could get her head off. According to some accounts he tried to rape her in full view of the court, but she pushed him away. I know it's just a movie, but it's still depressing. I can watch bloody, violent war movies no problem. I have been in my fair share of Scots Irish style, no holes barred fights. But it's hard for me to imagine this pretty young lady dying so horribly. I just get too involved in the story whenever I watch period dramas. I am way too passionate about history for my own good.

This is a beautiful rendition of this song, I heard the Corries and I'm sorry this beats by a mile the Corries are pub singers, they try to make it suit the male it does'nt work, My opinion of course..

Hello Jimmy thank you for your comments on this song this was the one picked and liked best happy you liked it too

And what is wrong with being a pub singer pray tell?
@kyotocoversjimanderson7823 жыл бұрын
Agreed about the rendition, but see no need for the gratuitous insult about the Corries, who brought and still bring great pleasure to countless people all over the world.
