Hey Taryll, how comfortable is it having to hold a mic and a camera? For my up coming trip I am thinking of just getting a tripod or a handle for my phone and using that. But for a mic, I don’t have one yet but am looking for something more simple. Wireless, but that you don’t have to hold it. Any ideas?

There are many options. If you go wireless you can always clip it to your shirt or jacket. There are many companies like the Rode (wireless go) dji has a new wireless mic coming and there are many others. Wireless is great option… but you have to be careful, because if you don’t keep a direct line to the receiver, the audio can cut out and won’t be stable. But if you are holding the camera you will be more than fine. Keep me posted and best of luck!

You can always transcode the 10 bit 422 files into proxies through davinci resolve. That should make it easier to grade and run on your computer.

True… I looked at and discussed transcoding with Taj… but that’s just an extra step when looking forward, I know the real solution is a new computer. I just have to make a decision on which cpu to get and order it. That would solve a lot of my issues!
