This was an interesting one! My bf is Japanese and I’m Filipino and we both embrace each other’s cultures. He can cook my food and I can cook his. He can recognize Tagalog phrases and I can pick up some Japanese phrases. It’s all about being interested in the other. I feel like these answers were a little strange, because it almost felt as if they believed it would be hard just based on different cultures and food. That’s something you work on together - it’s not make or break.

I think it's also the way the questions were phrased. Already implying that there's something to be "worried about" instead of "what do you like about Filipinos?" Interview questions are already negative and problematic. :( It's sad

Filipina married to a Japanese guy for 3 years and we dated for almost 2 years prior. His background is he studied for years in Australia and he is fluent in English (now I am learning more Japanese and he is learning Cebuano), so our language barrier is nonexistent. The cultural differences and his different approach on romance and his love language were a huge challenge in our relationship. We just communicated and communicated. I am happy that both of our families are supportive of our relationship and even tease us to have kids every single time we talk to them. My husband and I now are in a stage of our relationship where we are building our unique world especially on how we treat and communicate with each other….even mixing Japanese-English-Tagalog-Cebuano that sounds like some funny made up language.

@@iliveforjinyoungspeach7141 we actually met on Tinder and he sounded so serious (he wanted to practice English and I wanted to practice spoken Japanese for my job at that time) at first and the sudden confession from him shocked me the most. The interview was so much fun! I'm smiling throughout the video. ☺️ The punctuality of Filipinos are usually laughed at here, which is sad. We have to change this mindset and also be considerate towards the person waiting for us, not wasting their time, effort, and intentions like the way we don't want it done to us, right? To be honest, if a man or a woman really likes you, they would respect your personal space and decisions no matter what their nationality is, especially if you're not dating them yet, like the case with that lady who were in a camping with a Pinoy, just my 2 cents though.

Would most japanese guys be ready for a filipina? Filipina girls are a totally different breed of woman when compared to japanese girls, they are laughing out loud instead of giggling, they are noisy, they like sex, they like to kiss and cuddle and they just love to eat. They are more like sturdy coffee cups compared to the fragile teacups that are japanese girls.

US-born-and-raised Filipino here. Although I myself am not married to a Japanese (my wife is actually Filipina but could pass for Japanese or Chinese by looking at her), I have Japanese friends of both sexes. And from my experience, they seem to enjoy the presence of being around Filipinos during their time studying abroad out here in Hawaii. And they are quite common in our area. Aside from being polite and punctual, they had quite the addiction of experiencing our way of fun. And to this day, we still miss our hangout days since they’re no longer here in the U.S. but we keep in contact with each other for all time.

Fact: japanese and other east Asia only prefer their own race than others, most east Asian has a pride on their own features but they admire western faces more. So east Asians or japanese marrying Filipino and South East Asians is pretty hard compare to their own race and Caucasian because that's how Asia works. So don't put your hopes up, because you will not want the truth. Me a Filipino half Chinese managed to get rejected multiple times. Until I knew that east Asians mostly preferred their own race in culture. But most of Asians go to western country just to show admiration to them and marry Caucasian

Culture and language barriers can be overcome when two people with different cultures and languages work it out in the name of love. Filipinos can adopt easily to anything whether cultures or languages. Truth be told though, most Filipinos and Filipinas are sweet, caring, thoughtful, and loving. We live by the saying love conquers all.

I'm with this Filipina-Japanese girl and the biggest hurdle I'd say between us is the language barrier, culture, and lack of common interest. Btw, Pinoy naman ako, pure blooded. Although I can see that she's into me (she hinted me sooo many times), I'm not so sure if I should continue pursuing her because of the said hurdles earlier (not to mention the long distance). Even though half pinay sya, she's very "Japanized", barely knows Tagalog and our culture. She's born and raised there, and her mom I guess didn't taught her their Filipino roots that much. At first, yah it's fun, we've talked about our differences, I serenaded her with my guitar, among other things. Deep inside I know I like her too, but I'm hesitating. The language barrier is just a deal breaker, because I know how important communication is between couples and even this basic understanding of each other is already a problem between us. When we're calling, she can barely understand what I say (gotta rely much on Google translate). Culturally speaking, she's ok for me since she has visited the Philippines for several times (that's how I met her, ka baranggay lang namin yung tinuluyan nya).

I agree. Filipinos are understanding, patience, flexible, adaptive, caring, loving, thoughtful, polite, we can learn anything from them also how we should treat them according to their likings. I think the most worrying is the culture & belief because we do have our differences. But in order for us to communicate, we have to learn the language on both sides for us to have a better understanding. I do understand that girl says in the video that Filipino guys are aggressive but I think that's the way a Filipino guy how to express his feeling towards a girl like her so I guess she didn't find that nice on her part. The better way to approach this, as Filipinos we need to know or learn more better about Japanese culture, likewise for Japanese to learn more about Filipino culture as well.

And one thing worried me as a Filipina dated a Japanese guy was that, long-term relationship is not advisable for these two nationals. But for foods, some of us can eat Japanese food. Because we are open to try different cuisines. I have a friend who had a Japanese GF before. So, I think it's possible for Japanese and Filipino to go together, they just need to settle their differences and make things work out between them as a couple.
