yeah... I know that Japan and China have had very dark historical relations in the past, but I hope that diplomatic relations between Japan and China will remain close as well as economic, trade and tourism cooperation relations
The meaning of the lyrics of Japan's national anthem, "Kimigayo," is actually created around the theme of love. The lyrics are based on a sentence from the Kokin Wakashu (Anthology of Ancient and Modern Japanese Poetry), which was written around 800 AD. Therefore, there are many differences from modern Japanese, and even foreigners who can understand Japanese would not be able to understand the meaning. But when you translate the lyrics into modern Japanese, the meaning becomes very romantic. Modern Japanese I love you, my dear. The feelings of love for you If I were to use an analogy, it would be a collection of small stones And then they become a big lump of stone. And moss covers it For thousands and tens of thousands of years For thousands or tens of thousands of years. The lyrics are too old, and there are many other theories.

I'm just an ignorant latino, but I still don't get why would a country have a national anthem in an ancient speech that is no longer used. Like if Italy had an anthem in Latin or the UK in medieval English. And I've seen now many different translations so I guess even the Japanese stick to the interpretation they like the most 😝

@@TR4Rcuz Japan is like , untouchable nation they never got colonized by other nations just religion myb but the nation still live peacefully untill 1900s when Japan began to control most of Asia-Pacific , unlike English who's got influenced by Latins in their language,culture,and monarchy
@LeNumidium19 күн бұрын
@@TR4R Using an ancient form of a language in a national anthem, like Japan does with "Kimigayo," is about preserving cultural heritage and history. It's like Italy using Latin in some traditions or the Vatican using latin for its Anthem. It keeps the past alive and shows respect for it. It just show the depth of the language, not confusion. Many countries do this to honor their roots, so it's not outdated, its, on the contrary, a beautiful celebration of identity! Forget about the past, and the future becomes dark.

There's an interesting book you may want to read called "Learning to Bow - Inside the Heart of Japan" by Bruce Feiler. He's an American teacher who lived and worked in Japan and gives a good insight into the social structure and barriers within that country. I’m Japanese. In this video, "The Reign of the Emperor" is used as the English translation of 『君が代』, which was treated as the official interpretation in Japan from A.D. 1880, when this traditional verse was adopted as the national hymn, until the defeat in WWII(approximately A.D. 1945). However, it is not appropriate for the way it was originally used before the A.D. 1880. Primarily, the word「君」, it means "you" or "thou" , does not necessarily refer to the Emperor. It is more appropriate to use “Thy Reign" or “Your Reign” instead of "The Reign of the Emperor". Nowadays, this verse is the national hymn of Japan, so it is reasonable to interpret it as a song of praise for the country and hope that it will last. However, this does not necessarily mean that it is a song in praise of the Emperor. Incidentally, the era in which this verse first appears is around the 10th century A.D. It is said that the verse has been used for many years since that time to pray for the health and longevity of the other person. ---- 君が代は 千代に八千代に 細石の巌となりて 苔の生すまで May Thy reign, Last for ages, myriad ages, Until the pebbles into mighty rocks shall grow, Until moss shall overgrow them all ! ---- Thank you.
