, this is great. most manufacturers of ALL class d and class T amps usually provide power supplies that are ( HALF ) of what the amp needs or amp " Board "!!!!!!! SMSL and Micca are the only companies that I have found that provide the proper power supplies.

I was looking at this supply as an option for a bipolar power supply to power a few projects that require from - & + 5V to - & + 12V as well as ground. Why are you using the -V output for ground as opposed to the ground terminal for ground? If you're getting 24V on your multimeter when measuring the output voltage with the black test lead connected to -V and the red test lead connected to +V, what do you get if you move your black test lead to the ground terminal?

I wish you went a bit further with this and hooked up the audio. I'm curious if that switching PSU had any noise issues that you could hear in the signal once you had the speakers hooked up. I'm thinking about using one of those PSU's on a vacuum tube mic preamp I'm building. The guy who designed the preamp actually designed it with a switching PSU in mind, and he has some high frequency filtering in the design, but I think he intended the PSU to be external. I'm going to be racking up TWO of his PCBs into a 2U rack box with the PSU in the rack box.
@Toid
@Toid 5 жыл бұрын
That's highly dependent based on what you're hooking it up to. I'm not sure that anyone could really answer that besides the designer of the tube preamp. It's a very clean power supply. With what I use it for, I don't get noise. What I haven't done extensive testing.

Hi, would I be able to also wire a breadboard’s ground rail to the power supply’s ground, and thereby get a negative voltage from this?
@yongewok
@yongewok 3 жыл бұрын
I’m building the oscillator from Moritz Klein’s channel and I need to power an op-amp IC, alongside regular Vcc to Gnd elements. I have an Arduino Uno and I’ve been using a voltage inverter circuit next to the op-amp. I got this power supply in order to free up the breadboard space, and to ideally remove the Arduino from the picture. I will be dialing down the voltage as low as possible, but should I still be using a separate device for the ground, maybe the Arduino’s ground? I believe the negative voltage will be isolated from the ground in the circuit, as it should only be used for the op-amp in this project. but if possible, I’d like to remove the Arduino and use the ground (i.e. into the cord) on the power supply.

@@mehulsingh2403 Connected in serial, they will provide higher voltage. Connected parrallel, you can draw higher Amps. Yet be aware. That is out of specs and you void warranty. They are not extremely expensive, yet not cheap eighter. Good value for the money they are. Another thing is that in worst case, you can start a fire that way. Just pick a higher rated PSU from MeanWell. They are cheap enough, and they have tons of different models. All equally good. Just avoid knockoff copies from china.

hi,yes you can always turn L & N around because its AC alternating current,AC current changes the polarity or +/- every 1 second 50 times/cycles or 50 hz,so polarity al the time changing anyway,only DC you have to always check for polarity,with AC only in your fusebox you can not change the L & N!No worries!cheers

Do they make suitable enclosures to stick all of that in? I have cats so the idea of having all of that exposed is unappealing to me.
@Toid
@Toid 6 жыл бұрын
The metal box, is actually the enclosure. Some of these power supplies actually have a plastic guard that goes over the screws, this one does not. However, you can put them in a different enclosure if you want. It would be pretty simple to stick them in say a plastic ammo box with an iec socket on the outside. That would give you more protection if you wanted. Or go to your local hardware store and see what you would fit one.

If i understand correct, it is regulated because you regulate it yourself for a fixed load ?, so it is not really regulated ?, i dont know if i wanto buy this thing, since i dont have always the same load.
@Toid
@Toid 8 жыл бұрын
Here's the definition from wikipedia: "A regulated power supply is an embedded circuit; it converts unregulated AC into a constant DC. With the help of a rectifier it converts AC supply into DC. Its function is to supply a stable voltage (or less often current), to a circuit or device that must be operated within certain power supply limits." Basically, anytime you work with sensitive electronics you want to get the cleanest source possible. This is the best way to ensure that. Also you can regulate it to whatever load you need within it's range. I hope this helps.

Hi, I have a problem with this matter which would be very appreciative if someone can elaborate for me. I want to make a diy speaker by buying a full range speaker, amp board 1x50w and lithium battery. Now, as you would see from above, the last item is the lithium battery, yes I want to use it without a "power supply" Question: Can I create this theory diy speaker I want without the power supply? I had bought previously a bluetooth speaker and changed the speaker by de-soldering the negative and positive wires and re-attach it and worked flawlessly, only downside, the amp was weak, not pushing the woofer to its full potential. I checked that by trying it out with my own Griffin amp and it blows my mind how good a 15 gbp woofer can sound, only sad thing is, I bought a mid woofer, not the full range. Anyway, thanks in advance for help if any ...

Nice video! I just have a question. Have you noticed any background noise caused by the power supply? I’m no electrician but I’ve read some posts about smps supplies leaking noise from the switching into the audible frequency band. I’m thinking of building a dual mono amp with two of these in it.

That is a good question. I have not noticed that at all. However, I run these on bass shakers that only get 80hz and below signal and only comes on when bass hits. SO I probably would not notice it.

123Toid aah, ok. I’ll continue my reading and I won’t let all audiophiles get to me with all the talk about toroidal being the only way to get good quality sound. 😉 smps are just so much simpler and more efficient!

Set the voltage with a load, the amp is running

I'm not sure with the cabel input... You use ground line ? It is not secure... It is so danger... I think, it must use L and N for power input with 2 cable

Great... I was actually looking for this. Now... There is no difference between neutral and live. It is AC. And it does not matter how you plug it into the wall. And you can find cords, were there is no connection for "neutral" and "live". The ground/earth is the only one you need to watch out for. Regarding getting a shock. Then you will not get any, if you only touch one. If both or anything else, then you will get a shock.

You will never see a real 50x50 Rms from a 24 volt supply with only 4.5 amps. A may pop amplifier. It may pop at anytime.

If you have to make the statement that the cord should not be plugged in while cutting the end off; this how to video is beyond the capability of the viewer and therefore shouldn't be doing it...

So true. I also don't want to see anyone get electrocuted or trip a breaker. But I couldn't agree more.

For the love of god, please put properly crimped connectors on those mains wires. Bare copper wires should never be attached to those terminals because of 'work hardening' (micro-fractures).
