I don’t think I have ever seen a negotiation where the seller never said a player/card name. This guy just must have been a straight gambler ripping boxes and getting in breaks. Seemed like he knew very little about what he had. That in combination with 125k in retail pokemon baffles me.

I have just never seen sealed booster, blister, or ETB cases in WalMart. If he brought in some cases like that I would expect the 125k valuation to add up a lot quicker.

You got to appreciate Geoffs transparency on the evaluation of the cards… He knew the cards were undervalued, but he also knew that by utilizing his clout on Whatnot that he could get the prices he needs to make a profit… To have that conversation filmed and put on live. You have to respect the transparency. Plus the difference in being able to communicate and talk with somebody in a negotiation goes a long way , it saved the deal!

i think its actually a negotiation tactic, if he act all cool and calm with whatever they're saying, it won't put pressure on geoff to up his offer, and in the end, he ultimately made them increase their offer (meaning, maybe he was cool with 20k actually but knew he can get more by being more difficult etc)

First, poker is not a game of chance. Second, cards are a physical very liquid asset. Even if a $1k card drops in value I can still get some money back if I sell at a loss. If I lose a $1k poker hand, I’m out 100% of that money.
