Hope you read this. I’m a registered nurse, but have a passion for finance. My big 3,500 sq ft house and Mercedes suv would prove it, especially since I’m 35 and everything is paid off. I always try to be as economically efficient as possible. That being said, you show a little room for improvement. The small “crap” wood that breaks off could be sold as kindling bundles, easily for a few $ each. I would also cut one of the IBC totes (sure I said that wrong lol 😆) to collect the sawdust that you produce. It also has a market and value. Maximize everything you do. I must say that I’m very impressed by any young man, like yourself, who’s done well for himself. I sometimes regret not going into financial management myself. God bless, stay safe, and keep stacking it up 👍

My wife gave me the hairy eyeball when you said how much your hobby cost. After 2 boats, fishing gear, guns, and big boy toys. 125K is not bad and it serves additional purposes on a day to day basis. I will use that line in the future with the wife! Keep up the great videos and good luck with the pond!

Having the money to spend on your hobbies shows you are working hard, providing for your family, and being able to really enjoy life. I’m building a $90k shop and people think I’m crazy but woodworking is my hobby. Some people have cabins, boats and RVs. No need to explain- Enjoy!

You've got some good gear and it takes some skill to use a digger. One thing I'd say regarding diggers, bulldozers, the exception perhaps is the tractor log grab. Whenever you get a machine to touch a log it puts dirt on the log which makes it dirty and this dulls your chain. I try to ring a tree where it falls mostly. This keeps the logs clean and my chain sharp. .

Great explanation... Hobbies all cost money, but yours is helping you pay for itself. Many guys go out and spend tens of thousands on a truck, then don't even USE it... What a waste, at least you use yours... Also, wood cutting is best done when snow is on the ground or at least cold enough for it to be, otherwise, it is too hot. I remember cutting wood in single digits with wind, and I still got soaked with sweat. Everything was unbuttoned and still... so, yeah, 75 and humid, you will be soaked.

The next thing you need is a wood miser to cut the lumber for a shed to cover all your toys. I've seen this even on the Morgan's the little sliver of wood and chunk of bark laying on the ground we always use them for kindling when i was younger. My Pop's didn't believe in wasting a thing we would bag those up in old net bags that he had save from something and the stored in our barn till they were needed. some of the best fire starter you could ever want.

"I've Been Everywhere" is a song written by Australian country singer Geoff Mack in 1959, and made popular by Lucky Starr in 1962. Not putting down a great legend but the mother of a friend of Lucky Star lived a few doors down from us when I was kid which I found rather impressive at such a tender age.

I made a comment on a video about how much you’re into equipment. (It was the video you split wood for a fella smoke pit.) but I wasn’t judging. Realistically, your hobby can pay off all that equipment in about 6 years. When it comes to buying expensive items. I think to myself, can I earn enough money to have it paid off in 4 years? If not. I usually don’t buy it. With the exception of firearms. I just buy those regardless the ROI.

Question you have a large field, could you not bundle hay and sell it? Or is it not worth it? Also why not have a few gravel squares for wood stacking to keep weeds out and provide drainage at the bottom of the stack?

Making hay is in the same category as the firewood business. Over 100k after tractor for the most basic new equipment to get the job done. One would need to work hundreds to thousands of acres annually to make it pay. Used equipment can get the job more cheaply, but then one would need to enjoy the hobby of keeping it in working order to make sense. But if this is all a hobby…

You do not have to explain the reasons why you buy the equipment you have to do the hobby of fire wood. I think it's cool to have the right equipment to enjoy what your doing. I personally regret not buying the right brand of things to do the work around my house. If you buy cheap - then expect cheap results. I have a Stihl Chain Saw I use 5 to 10 times a year. It cost me around $350 10 years ago and it still performs every time I need it. I am about to buy an overkill Log Splitter to split my fire wood. But I want the right tool to split my wood. So hats off to you and live and enjoy life - because we only live once.

Invest and draw interest or purchase equipment that provides a service and generates income. I assert the latter is morally superior. Better for the mind body and spirit. And if there is a financial collapse instead of losing everything you can still generate revenue or at least barter and you still have the equipment

I hate that you find the need to justify what you do and what you buy. It's up to you to decide how hard you work at your hobby or business. Obviously the viewers who whine have never had a tractor or efficient equipment. Owning property/acreage makes having equipment a necessity. A tractor is an indispensable item to have with a zillion uses. I have 20 acres and just a small JD 1025R and it's always busy. I only cut trees and firewood for my own use so a Japa might be excessive but the tractor does all my jobs from grass cutting, bushhogging, landscaping and gravel moving. Have fun and don't worry about the Negative Nellies who only sit and drink beer and watch YT.

The Japa processor would not handle anything I cut on my place. I only cut dead trees or trees that came down in a storm. I have 45 acres of forest and most trees are at least 16" and usually larger. To me it looks like a waste of time and money.
