end needs a p trap to keep air from going up the pipe or turn the pvc down into a standpipe which could be a 4" pvc with a cap on it

Im in VA and looking to buy a certified used F150 lariat with under 25k miles. Autotrader lists several in the $45k range. That makes more sense than spending over $60k on new!

Just spent two days out in the freezing cold trying to get mine to go.... two years old. Prmmmm, prmmmm, prmmm, prnmmm.... over and over and over. Figured out what is wrong, bit without a heated garage, the repair is gonna have to wait. Switched to an electric mower and weed eater years ago. They run the moment you pull the trigger. All the time. Every time. No gas, no oil, no filters, just hang it up till next time. Next snowblower is electric.

I’m so jealous - i always wanted to do this. I used to skate 3x per week in the uk - inside in an ice rink - hockey boots ( trying to kiss girls ). Going way too fast. The skating in between and around others at high speed makes me a better road user ( anticipation ), an instant skier, and now I’m a snowboarder and crappy surfer.

If you can't pay cash for the truck, you can't afford it! As a big Dave Ramsey guy, you know that!

I had the same thing where the dealership listed the financing price, but cash price was $1000 higher. I left and won't be paying more than the price listed online. BTW -nobody purchased it and now they list it $2k less than where it started (which was crazy high).

You've got to trust your inner Dave Ramsey sometimes. If you can't afford a vehicle in cash, you can't afford it. Period, end of story.

my old township's rink used to allow young kids to use an over-turned 5 gallon bucket to rest their chest on, which enables kids to just focus on getting used to the footing. I bet you have a bunch of buckets that might do the trick. Lovely video and well worth the time and effort! TFP!

Maybe this a stupid question, but how will you know when the grid power has come back? You hardly want to keep switching the generator off to check or is that how you do it?

Back in the early 80’s we did just what you are doing. One of our friends was a firefighter so when we would flood the rink, he would bring a few of his buddies along with a fire pump and 3” hose. That was a big help. Try going to your local fire department and see if they will fill the rink for you in the future. Volunteer firefighters will do it instead of city firefighters because they don’t have all the red tape from the city.

Or you could just lift the outside end a bit, stick some timber under it, and pull it out from under the lean-to. But that wouldn't be a dramatic video of everyday moving stuff around with a tractor.

Just out of curiosity, if you are going to add fresh water on top, why shovel it? Wouldn’t the new water melt the snow? I’ve never lived anywhere that it would get consistently cold enough to skate on a pond.

Thanks for the memories. Grew up on a lake in north Wisconsin, the ice rink was something we looked forward to every year. Figure skating and hockey were almost as much fun as swimming. You're right about memories- I'm 77 now and remember back fondly. Hint- try clearing the ice from the center out. For light snow try skating in circles. It will work great with that plow you had . Have fun and thanks for the memories.

I agree with your closing thoughts. My boys are in their 30’s. Successful and building their own families. I allowed them the space to learn and discover in their own way. This occasionally meant a stumble and fall. Stand up. Brush off and try again.

I like that style of cart/table. If you have the room it’s a good one. You did well putting it together too. The thing with welding, always, is distortion, but as far as I could tell you had it pretty much under control. However, I would never weld the castors to the cart. Apart from welding plated metal - so perhaps introducing stuff into your weld pool you don’t want in there - if you had drilled your plates to bolt on your castors, it would allow you to shim the castors to allow for slight distortion. Sometimes one 1/16” shim on one leg makes the difference between a trolley/table/cart that rocks on its legs and one that sits firm on a level floor. You don’t need to ask me how I worked that out… Les 🇬🇧
