I am sorry to hear you lost your Tang 😔 Here’s hoping it was just an isolated case and all the other fish are well (they look healthy). I would be a bit concerned if this was me, especially with my history ha. Nice update! 😊

You and everyone else I watch... Been a few weeks now and no other signs of bad health, but it shows it could happen at any time, I guess. Thanks for checking in!

The turtle shell looks like a Christmas favia

I've heard watermellon as well. Either way, sounds like favia is the concensus. Thank for the feedback, recent sub and watch. Glad to have you on board. Will you be starting videos as well?

Thanks for checking in! I have been away a week now, since I filmed this, and haven't heard of any other deaths, so will see when I get back...

Yeah, it's part of the hobby, I guess. Been away a week now, looking forward to seeing how it all is when I return.

Sorry to hear about your powerder brown tang...system looks good Pete...keep it up...you might want to get a small gel filter for your tank vids to show off corals...
@laminar_flow6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice on the filter. Perhaps that is something that has been long overdue. Don't know on the powder brown. The others all seem to be doing well.

Thats funny! It wouldn't stop me from finishing it.

The unexpected death sucks but if none of your other fish are effected then that's a lot better then having to pull them and treat them. Must be nice to have credit you have to "deal with". I'm sure you can find something nice. Maybe it's time to get some plastic cheato if you want to keep it so badly :)
@laminar_flow6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the death thing is strange. Had another suggestion that it could have eaten a loose paly, I guess that could kill it. I think plastic chaeto would last longer. I will amp up the light on the fuge before I do that, though. I have the bbox LED I just got second hand, but haven't had the time to install it over the tank there. Shopping for more coral will certainly be fun.

☹️ Sad face for the powder brown. It’s harder when it’s mysterious and unexpected, I think. I’ve seen that mystery green and red coral identified as a watermelon Favia (if it’s a Favia). And you likely have already noticed you have vermetid snails on some of the basement corals. 😱 Enjoy your travels! Even if it is for work.....
@laminar_flow6 жыл бұрын
I was thinking Favia. Thanks for that ID! Don't know about the powder Brown. It had been healthy all along, including 5+ weeks in QT. The vermetid snails are the tube builders on the coral stocks, correct? Will dip kill them?
@Reefgrrl6 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, dip won’t kill them while the tube is there - if you use tweezers and pick them off including the base (the round-ish base is where the snail itself lives) and then dip, it’s possible you’d get what’s left of any snails that way. If you just break off the tubes, the snail just builds a new one.

Maybe the brown at a loose paly by mistake. That turtle looks like a favia. Also get a automatic kitty litter box, will change your life
@laminar_flow6 жыл бұрын
We had the auto kitty litter at one point, long ago. Poop is just part of pets. We have horses too, so kitty litter is really just in the noise. Second vote on the favia, you are in good company with reefgrrl on the ID.
