As someone who makes bath products, whenever you put the citric acid and sodium bicarb, I can’t help but giggle “it’s a bath bomb for your mouth!” So funny how much crossover there is between food and bath products!

In this case a certain acid bias wouldn't be too bad- though it would be nice if cream of tartar was added to do a bit of justice to the wine side of things. But then again, I'm no confectioner.

Once upon a time, several years ago, I worked for Amazon while they were opening one of their early new buildings in their consolidated Seattle campus. They had a building opening ceremony, and they ordered a special bottle of champagne that had thin glass, to make it easier to break. They had delivery problems, somebody had placed the order to be delivered to one of the old buildings instead of one of the new ones. And then it came time to break the bottle on one of the new building's concrete pillars. A manager swung the bottle and it . . . bounced. Apparently they hadn't actually gotten a ceremonial bottle, they had a real one instead. Maybe it was a replacement for the mis-delivered bottle. The crowd laughed. He swung again, harder this time, and it broke with an exploding pop! I think the first swing had shaken up the bottle, releasing bubbles and increasing the internal pressure.
