My wife and I travelled from Canada pretty much just to come to the store. Seven hour drive after our cruise in Fort Lauderdale to see the Lofty Pursuits adventure. So glad to have been able to not only see candy made but a video made. That derpy guy in a blue shirt at 8:30 is me. Thanks for the great experience Greg and all the Lofty staff. Highly recommended to anyone near Tallahassee "right off the Thomasville road exit of the I10."

Just out of curiosity, how long ago was this? I'm just curious as to how long it takes them to do the voiceover and editing after filming. By the way, that's awesome you got to go there and even during a filming! I only subscribed a couple months ago and although I would have never thought I would be into a candy making channel, I love this channel! 😂
@LoftyPursuits5 жыл бұрын
The candy take +/- two hours, editing and voiceover takes 30 minutes to a hour for each minute of final video. So this one took 8-10 hours to produce. I talk about this on one of the lofty pursuits podcasts.

Hey Greg, just a heads up about umami- it's actually a sneaky extra taste! (Sour, sweet, salty, bitter, umami!) It's described as being a "tasty" or savoury taste, almost meaty, associated with glutamate. Think soy sauce, anchovies, yeast extract, Worcestershire sauce, tomatoes, beef stew and mushrooms, like porchini or shitake.
@emmanuelno31335 жыл бұрын
Umami is in denmark also called the bacon flavour
@SmolFenFen5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, umami got used wrong here. Greg, umami is that part of meat flavor that is satisfying. If you want to taste it try cooking a mix of mushrooms in a bit of water till they get soft and the water boils away, then add some butter and cook with high heat till they brown and darken
@SmolFenFen5 жыл бұрын
Don’t worry about burning, it is very hard to overcook mushrooms

I bet the swept up flash off the table when you're done breaking it up is going to taste amazing on ice cream.
@LoftyPursuits5 жыл бұрын
The candy has so much surface area, and we use nothing artificial to keep it from sticking, It becomes a kind of icky ball of Goo within a couple of minutes of us finishing the batch. That's why we have to sift it off so fast. The flash has too much surface area for our humidity. What they make candy topping that usually tumble it with some sort of wax to keep it separated. I have thought about doing that but I've never got to be done and for small quantities I think it would be annoying
@francez1234567895 жыл бұрын
The chocolate drops are amazing. I'll be honest, I was expecting a mouth full of coco powder but instead it had this unique mouth feel in between chocolate and hard candy. Really hope you guys make it a main stay.

I thought I keep it around at least until Easter. It's really annoying to make. Folding all that cocoa powder really cool for candy makes it very hard to put through the press. I haven't lost a batch yet but every batch I feel like I'm about to lose it
