Hi Jeanette: Thank you for some great ideas here. IKEA frame is genius though I do not have one close by. Not sure if you've already tried another spray by Krylon called UV Archival? It is superior to the UV Resistant Clear Acrylic in my opinion because it does not contain alcohol. It also comes in various finishes and the jury is out on using it first or after you use Kamar Varnish. Works well for me either way. But it is 100% alcohol ink friendly and provides the best UV protection (NO yellowing either) I've found so far. I have to bite the bullet and get me some Art Resin!! Thanks again for a great video!!

Jeanette, hello and thanks for your videos. I'm fairly new to alcohol inks and recently discovered your channel. I'm sorry I didn't see this video sooner. It would have saved me a lot of time researching this topic. I'm happy to say that I seal my work the same as you. Since I do a lot of tiles and mugs, I wanted a final sealant that would be food safe and heat resistant. I discovered Brite Tone by CrystaLac. It's heat resistant to 350 degrees so that hot cup of tea isn't a problem. It's food safe, too. The company recommends 6 thin coats, but I find that 5 is usually sufficient to build up a nice, hard glossy finish. So after the Kamar and then the UV Protectant , I finish up with the Brite Tone. I've been very happy with the results so far. Thanks again, for sharing your expertise with us.

Have you applied the resin without the vanish and uv spray? What is the advantage of the sprays before the resin?

Do you find that the Kamar varnish makes the surface dull? I can’t really tell if the varnish is successfully sealed yet.

I use the matte finish. It's my preference, but I do at least 3 light coats to make sure it's sealed before applying the uv protection.

Perfect! I've been using these exact steps for years, and this is exactly what I tell my students. I love the Ikea frames, but suddenly I can't get them here in Canada. Does Ikea still sell them in the states?

Thank you Jeannette for this helpful tutorial. I’ve a few of my works ready to be sealed. When applying the varnish spray and subsequently the uv spray do you have your paper lying horizontally or do you back mount it to cardboard so it can be sprayed more vertically?

I really appreciate your information. I haven't tried the tiles yet but I will soon! Your tiles are beautiful! I am looking for the UV resistant clear and have found it comes in gloss or matte finish. Which do you suggest? I'm thinking gloss. Thanks!

I didn't put enough layers of the varnish and subsequently ruined my painting. Is there a way to wipe the tile clean after varnish and UV spray has been applied?

Oh no😕. I've never tried since the tile is so inexpensive, so I dont know how you would be able to get that finish off without using some sort of paint stripper. Sorry I wasnt much help😔
