What does the squat feel like, is it a vertical drop? What is the tension level in the legs, are you just catching yourself before you fall or is it a controlled squat? I feel I like I have the upper body movement but my swing speed is maxing out at 108 that’s without thinking about anything the arms are doing, anytime I try to think about swinging hard with arms my swing speed tops out at 100 so I feel like it’s definitely the lower body that adds more power just can’t get the movement down.

The movement of force to the left side in Nate's swing is a diagonal transition. He feels his weight shift from the right ball of the foot under the big toe to the ankle of the left foot - so squat is perhaps not a great description because that generally doesn't help create a visual of just how left and around the force goes. So try focusing on feeing the weight shift go from right big toe on the mid point of the backswing to the left ankle in the transition. Feel that line being well left of the target as you feel the ground force transition to the lead foot. We have a 14 day free trial of on online swing review program - you can send a swing into Nate and have hime look at it and give you more specific feedback. If you're interested that is at altaview.golf.

The software being used in Trackman Performance Studio. You can connect multiple cameras to a Trackman system and then displaying the captured video as one of the view options when you look at the shot details. Other view options are impact conditions, ball flight, dispersion patters overlaid from recent shots etc.

Nate could hit 190 ball speed with a little bit higher attack angle!! Wow

Excellent, Very nice. You talked about it but need to get at what point in the down swing do you "feel" releasing the wrists?
@ryanc2404
@ryanc2404 Жыл бұрын
They didn't talk about it bc when you swing this hard and fast you don't release the wrists. On video, most people cannot physically see the gap between their arms going into impact b/c they "force" release their right hand for clubhead speed. This guy, who clearly is a sick athlete my goodness, and most tour pros look like they are practicing the ben hogan "belt" drill going into impact. if you don't believe me check out the 4:17 mark

@@ryanc2404 He does what most of the big hitters do and go from slightly cupped wrist at the top to flat/bowed at the ball. You can kind of see the transition from 5:05 (cupped) to 5:10 (bowed). Berkshire and J.Daly do something similar. It's pretty much the opposite of what everyone on the tour and on youtube is trying to do cupping their wrist early a-la Morikawa, Hovland, etc.

Great swing. Can you explain how the speed is generated (forces, pressure, etc)? You spoke about rotation and relaxed arms. I rotate with soft arms, too, but I can’t generate a 125+ swing speed.

Well, Nate is young and fit and so that helps! It is a lot about getting everything to line up with balance. In other words all the motions work together in the same plane. Subsequent to this video Nate has been working on even better maintenance of the spine angles to get the rotations to move a little more free. You can expect some more content soon showcasing more details about his driver and teaching other as well.

He obviously rotates very fast and is athletic. but mainly he holds his lag until his hands reach his right leg in the downswing. He is then able to release that angle through the ball. it acts like a whip going through the ball. Holding lag and not releasing the angle early can increase clubhead speed by upwards of 15 mph through impact.

Just one boring note: slowmotion of a synchronized motion can make you crazy;) Whip is the main thing here I think.

@@YoungSandwich10 do you release out to the right and the rotation brings your arms left and up? What should you feel with a proper release?
@YoungSandwich10
@YoungSandwich10 Жыл бұрын
@@pushtostart1377 i think it has more to do with the position of his right arm/elbow. He keeps that right elbow rotated in and almost in front of his body during the downswing. It makes it hard to allow that club to cast early with that elbow position. that allows for the lag to be held longer and for him to release that angle through the ball

how does a ball carry 340 with 3200 spin?
@AltaViewGolf
@AltaViewGolf Жыл бұрын
Even with a bit higher spin that optimal he has enough ball speed that it still goes quite far. I’ve seen many balls from Nate carry 340 on courses. I don’t recall if on that specific hit if we were using Titleist RCT balls. Trackman computes spin more accurately when using an RCT and I don’t think that was the case here so possible the launch monitor could be a bit off as well. But the carry I’ve seen from indoor to outdoor play is very accurate for his drives.
