Sandman, thanks for posting. I saw this video a few months ago and it inspired me to go for the 200K club myself. I picked up a few 90A-pros which were my first blue belt locks. I worked on them over the past several weeks until I could open them fairly consistently and recorded my submission tonight. What a cool challenge!

Thank you! Very helpful video. My 90A-Pro arrived from allpadlocks before my American & Abus locks and has me bamboozled. I plan to order another 90A-PRO and just a 90A both in BLUE this time. Any preference on where to order from? Maybe if I get this one picked before the American & Abus locks arrive, those will be "easy."

You’re asking a lot of question that requires a lot of answer. Try googling it and looking for a KZbin video that has an explanation. “Countermilling lockpicking”

It’s a great lock to use. I would definitely trust it locking up my stuff. it’s also great for Lockport. I think it’s terribly hard to pick. In my opinion, much different than American 1100. I’m struggling with one right now

Shout out to you Mr Sandman for responding to my other comment and pointing out that my lock was defective. I got another one and had it open in a few minutes... and as they say and I ignored... VIDEO YOUR ATTEMPTS. I didn't record and who knows when I'll get it open again. The next opem is gonna be my 200k patch video and my entry in to your giveaway. Thanks again, that was frustrating trying to open a defective lock.

I got mine last week!!! It is awesome. I have 5 of them and they’re my favorite lock to pick to keep my jiggle test on point.

When you jiggle test on this lock, which pins are you jiggle testing? And what are you looking for during the jiggle? I’ve never been able to use jiggle testing unless I use a Lishi tool.

Standard jiggle test. Pressing up on the pin check the pin state. Michael Gilchrist has a great video on it. Just to test if a pin is set so you don’t overset it. I never truly understood it until that video and trying it on this lock. Just search 90a pro jiggle test and you’ll find it.

@@sandman_locksport it’s useful on 3 specific Paclock 90a Pro’s that I have. They are the ones that have lots more serrated pins in them. I used to get overzealous and overset those pins because is it 1 click or 3 clicks to set that pin? I just give it a little jiggle after each click to see if it’s in a serration or set. So far it’s the only group of locks that I own that I need to do this on but I hear that it is a skill that is really needed on higher level locks like the ASSA 700 with the tapered pins or gins/trees where paying attention to the pin state is important. That’s on my list to start working on after I finish with my current batch of locks. I’ve been deep in the weeds with a few Medeco locks that I just got.

I just got that lock (I did the purple)! I had no clue about the 200k distinction! Mine got has a 200k on it as well! Gotta remember to submit my video after I learn how to pick it (probably in the next 10-50 years!)!

Everyone says use feather light tension in American lock 5200 variants. What makes heavy tension more helpful for a lock like this, which seems basically just like an American lock but with more pins?

I can’t describe it to you. You’ll have to buy one of each to understand for yourself. Some things you just have to learn by doing.

I got one of these after watching your video. Just testing the pins before tensioning, pins 3 and 4 bind tightly enough you almost have to bend the pick just to break them free to move them and that's before tensioning. Looking at the key, they're mid height cuts. If you break one free ok, but go for the second and anything you have set drops. Any suggestions on how to get around this? I am about to try making a custom pick to hit 3 and 4 simultaneously first before going after the rest.

If you can’t lift a pin with a pick, then you’re probably not able to insert the key. I doubt this is the case. Add lubricant. If you can’t insert the key, then you need to return the lock. I have 450 locks in my collection, and your symptoms of your examination makes zero sense to a functioning lock.

@sandman_locksport I can lift the pins but just barely and yes the key is quite difficult to insert getting hung up on snags twice on the way in and it takes some force to get it to turn, which it only does after a notable click as it finds the sheer line. I've never had a paclock before so I wasn't sure if "barely functional" was paclock's method of pick resistance or if I got a bad lock. Judging from your reply (thank you very much btw) I got a bad lock. To be sure, it's not going to be easy to pick this the way it is 🤣 I just ordered another one. Call me sucker but I want the badge :)

I am a fool. I was messing around the other night, thinking i was using a 90A to practice for my green belt submission. Managed to get it open a couple times. Then I looked at the lock again and saw 90A pro. I am still new enough i didnt realize there was a difference. Oh, thats next belt, oops. Then i saw this video and checked my key, it has 200k on it. If i had just had my camera running i couldnhave submitted lol and now for the life of me i cant get it open on camera!!
