Since this lock was sent to mea sealed in a pack, I thought it would be a good test of the new PacLock Pro 7 pin LOTO padlock. I’m pretty happy with my time ⏱ what do you think? Let me know in the comments 👍😃

I think 5 min is awesome. My skill level, that's a 5 hour pick...or guesswork.

I never time myself, but usually take a LOT longer than it felt like. Often when I get an open on my last lock of the night I look up at th tv and not only is my movie over, but I'm over halfway through another. Time seems to pass differently when you're absorbed in opening a lock.

Refreshing to see a US padlock putting up a decent defence. Seven pins does add decent complexity too. Well picked, Ash.

These Paclock pro locks are brand new, so odds are you haven't picked one before. That being said this is the first video I've seen from someone else picking straight out of the box. You did exceptionally well but you knew that :) I really do put a lot of time and effort with what I send over seas & videos like this + your sheer enjoyment makes it all worth it. Well done!

It’s a great lock! It was a perfect opportunity to try an out of the pack pick... if it was going to be over 10 min I might just have given up, so I was lucky it worked it for me. You only get one shot at these!

really great to see a loto being sealed. then you are sure no other keys are made. And with 7 pins the number of possible combinations should prevent any locks being made with the same code

Great pick there with the out of the packet pick. It put you to the test and you came out on top. Great pins in there and they have that nice shiny look. 7 pins just to add that little bit more difficulty.

I actually watched the video back after reading tour comment and I actually never noticed before but it was interesting for me to see back what I did. When I first started picking I don’t think I ever changed tension like this on the fly, I just jammed it on and hoped for the best 😀

I got one of these and I'm not sure everything is OK. Two problems... running through the pins with no tension, I almost have to break the pick just to get 3 and 4 to move.... is that normal? Also mine doesn't appear to be guttable. Where the Allen screw is supposed to be in the shackle hole instead of a hex opening it's smooth like a divot in a rivet. No way to open it with an Allen wrench. Is that normal?

Awesome job, man! Hey, were the springs different? I know that on the regular (6 pin) version, they use two different tension springs in the bible to make it more bump resistant. I'm not sure if they do on the Pro.

I wish I’d checked, sorry!

Is that a Pro core in their standard body? All of their LOTO Pro locks I see are thermoplastic bodies instead of aluminium. **edit** Ah, found it on amazon, not listed as a LOTO lock with the aluminium body, called the 90A-PRO, the 7 pin PRO LOTO locks are the PL410-PRO series which are about 5$ cheaper. I guess I could have just waited till the end of the video where you gave the model number out as well....
@davidbeecher91434 жыл бұрын
Master LOTOs are plastic. My understanding is with a plastic body, it can be smashed and pulled apart. Some sort of OSHA rule I was told a long time ago but never tried to verify. Maybe as LOTO's have only one key, if you left the jobsite and forgot to unlock, it can be bypassed with a hammer but that seems kinda wrong too. Not sure why Paclock went aluminium, but sure is nice to look at!
@PocketWomen4 жыл бұрын
@@davidbeecher9143 That is the reason for plastic bodies. The cores have to meet a standard that's why Master Lock cores in the 410 loto's are better than what they use in their other padlocks. The Paclock 90A has been brought out to be in direct competition with the American 1100 loto Padlock, cheers
@davidbeecher91434 жыл бұрын
Pocket Women, thanks for confirming what I was told O so many years ago about the plastic body. I know from a LPL video about the core Master uses and it makes sense. But is there a reason that they now make LOTOs with metal bodies? Don’t know how long it would take a 15 oz framing hammer to open one. Now I need to add an American 1100 series LOTO so I can start my collection of LOTOs. I didn’t know it existed. But it’s on my “Gotta have it.” list now.. Thank you.

Wow. As a new guy to this sport, damn your good!!! Not sure I understood but half of what you said,,, I can see I have a long way to go!!!. My question,,, how can you tell exactly what pin your working on, & , you hit #7, then 6 and so on, why did you have to go back so many times to the same number you already had done? Sorry if a rookie question, but,,, I am a rookie.. Thanks
@LockNoob4 жыл бұрын
It’s a good question! If you have only standard (tube shaped) driver pins, usually you only have to pick them once. If they are spook pins or serrated pins, they need to be picked more times per pin
@RAkers-tu1ey4 жыл бұрын
Imperial Tool? Sounds a little ostentatious to me. Nice job on the pick though. Pac locks can be tricky... typically good tolerances.

That keyway is kinda fat. Should allow a wide range of tools to be inserted into the keyway for picking. If it were a narrower keyway it would certainly be more impressive.

Yes a paracentric keyway would be more challenging for sure
