Beautiful Algonquin 😍. I didn't know that about the can policy...seems strange to me! One of my favourite parts was the little inchworm - so cute!

Soooooo cute, right? Every other clip I was editing to as few seconds as possible. That one I let run!

Great video!! What a beautiful trail, the scenery was gorgeous! The sound of the loons must have been so wonderful. I see there are blowdowns on every trail. Happy to report that we had volunteers walk the Mg’mag trail to do a report for the section managers. Many sections are being cleared of fallen trees. U to R are completely cleaned out and so C to D (bet you remember that section) 🙈 Nice to see you enjoying the remainder of the summer. I get it when you say how much you love this 💕💕 Jim is heading out to Mount Carleton on Tuesday. Will give you an update on your spot device 😊

Haha, well thank you so much, Bill! I’m a big eater! You may regret that offer! 🤣🤣 But what do you mean “back to Brighton?” When was I there? 🤔

Sorry for being "late to the game here" Christina, I just returned from a camping/vacation trip out in Eastern Oregon for two weeks+ and had no cell service or other access to the internet. I am just now catching up on videos that I missed. I was happy to see that you put out a couple of videos during that time (and this one is great by the way.) You captured some beautiful scenery and presented another very inspiring hike and camp. You have definitely put in a full summer schedule super woman! Thanks again for allowing us to join you. And now it is on to the next video. Take care.

No cell service for two weeks plus sounds divine! No apology necessary! I’m happy for you that you were able to disconnect for such a long chunk of time. Thank you for watching, as always, Mr. Campfire. 😊🙏🏼✌🏼

This was really fun viewing. And it warmed my heart to see that you're remembered how to string a tarp ridgeline. Regarding your question about the prohibition against cans in Algonquin's backcountry, it's for the same reason that one may not bring bottles. Unlike plastic and paper food packaging, which are light and can be squashed down to be packed out, many campers are loathe to pack out cans and bottles which tend to be heavy, bulky, and full of food odors, so they get left behind or disposed of in thunderboxes, in lakes, or in the fire pit. Opened cans, even when not rusty, pose a cutting hazard (as does broken glass) for park stuff who must pack these out when they come across them on campsites or along trails. So...this is why we can't have nice things. Glad you had such a great trip and it was nice seeing you relax in one spot for 2 hours!!! lol Happy camping, - Martin

Thank you for sharing the reasoning behind that rule; I was hoping you’d chime in on this. Always great to hear from you, Martin! More tarp use to come, by the way! 😊

@@Womaninthewoods13 whole trail, doing a 2 nighter, I usually do the Western Uplands but the one buddy I'm going with hasn't done a backcountry trip before so figured I start him on a smaller one first lol.

@Cunner Outdoors Smart of you! I’m seeing so many people out on long trails for their first outing and they are way overpacked and exhausted; not looking like they are enjoying themselves. You’re a good leader! Have fun! (Also, I always recommend Eastern Pines as a good “first thru-hike.” Good luck and have fun!

Do you have your backpack clanging and making noise as you're hiking to keep the bears away? Do you have any advice on how I can get over my fear of bears? I want to go solo camping in algonquin park but I am scared of bears.
@Womaninthewoods134 ай бұрын
I used to be really afraid of bears, too. The only way to get over that fear is by getting out there, keep getting out there, and realizing that the chance of seeing a bear is pretty low. I’ve never seen a bear. However, I carry bear spray and keep it at the ready. And I do not listen to music or block out the information from my environment in any way. I’m alert. I listen to the sounds around me. You don’t have to make lots of noise or consistent noise if you are being aware. If you can’t see very far in front of you or are in very, very thick forest, THEN, perhaps, I would be making noises, yes. But, where visibility is pretty good, there is no need. I hope that helps and I hope you do go out on a solo adventure in Algonquin. If you do, please update me and let me know. Good luck, and I’m excited for you! 😁✌🏼
