I went to and graduated from Tokay High School in Lodi, California back in the day. And yep, I'm a Fogerty/ CCR fan. Go figure!

I never knew how Fogerty played this, but I always played it in standard tuning with capo first fret, gives you all the fills using Key of A SHAPES. Works great even to the key change. Thanks for the great lesson!

Newly subscribed to your channel, your explanations are spot on and delivery is laid back. I also like your song selections...a lot of them take me back to AM transistor radios days. Thank you for all the time you devote to helping thousands of us out!

Thank you! I've wondered how Fogarty played this since I was twelve. I've worked up many other songs that are more complex, but I was too in awe of this one as a 12 y.o. to ever tackle it :-) Bravo!

I was looking for a term to describe that phenomenon, 12 Foot Chain fits it to a tee!

Ramble Tamble by CCR may have some kind of D tuning, as well. Cool opening riff and a break in the middle that speeds up. Very psychedelic!😁
@wooferdevlin3571 Жыл бұрын
That was smart, calling out the shapes to avoid, or lessen confusion. And, yeah, D Standard is good to call it - standard intervals. What a blast playing the right way on these tunes. Of course, if played in E Standard, singing will be higher, might sound like the Chipmonks!! Fanks. 😉

Ever do requests? There's one nobody does on and I'd love to know a way to play it I know it comes off of a D minor I think? One of my favorite underrated Eric Clapton tunes I can't stand it. Just thought throw that out there cuz you do a great job breaking down so much good stuff.

Another great video. Thanks for enlightening me on this John Fogarty tuning. I think last time by the Rolling Stones would be a good one for you to do. It's really interesting how the Brian Jones part works so well with the chords.

Good lesson, the drop tuning makes a world of difference. Speaking of tuning, I think your guitar was out of tune - (string 5)?

Probably

@@12footchain Just an observation. And with that said, how many great songs were recorded a bit out of tune? Boatloads. And I'm no perfectionist.
